Escape into the Dark Night
Chromatic hues shifting in raven night,
Hiding both danger and wonder in black.
Hidden winds push bulk into flight,
Away from pain and war, no turning back.
How long the flight, how long the ages seem,
Since Time breathed Life, and screamed in birthing pains.
A fairy for laughter, dragon for dream,
Yet who counts the losses, and who the gains?
How much blood is spilt, how many lives lost,
To carve a name from a torn, blackened hide.
Since when can death trade at a golden cost,
Now, no cave, no hole in which to confide.
What great wrong have ever I on man wrought,
That my life, for gold or anger, be sought?
