Physical Description:

Rrowl is a fairly typical kzinti - a tall and powerfully built felanoid, covered with shaggy orange fur. His fur is marked with stripes similar to those of a tiger's, with a large patch of white fur on his chest.
Rrowl's face bears one long vertical scar on the left cheek, several small pieces of his large ears are missing, and numerous smaller scars (mostly hidden by fur) mark his arms and chest.

Family and Background:
|
Fourth son of Hrau-Captain, Rrowl was destined to be a spacefarer from birth. At the age of fifteen, he entered the kzinti military as a gunner's mate, and spent the remainder of his pre federation career climbing the ranks there.
Hrau-captain died when his ship was destroyed by superior Romulan forces. However, the death is point of pride for Rrowl, for his father died courageously walking the Hero's path.
Rrowl's mother's name is unknown (Kzinti females are sub sentient and considered property); he has assorted siblings, but knows nothing of their current status. Indeed, only his very oldest brother, Knarl-flyer, had even earned a partial name by the time Rrowl lost contact with his family.

Lucky for him, kzinti physiology provides for such happenings, and he made a full recovery.

Personal Bio:
|
Rrowl joined the kzinti navy at the age of fourteen, intent of walking the Hero's path and expanding the glory of the Kzinti Hegemony.
When he was sixteen, his father, Hrau-captain, was killed in combat against overwhelming Romulan forces. Rrowl shows no sorrow over this incident, for he truly believes that his father's death is a glorious thing. However, to this day, he despises Romulans above all else.
Eventually, Rrowl achieved a rank equivalent to lieutenant, and was stationed as second officer aboard the Ripping Talon, a kzinti frigate. In November of 2355, his ship was disabled and set adrift during a battle with Romulans near the neutral zone. With their power and life support failing, the crew of the Ripping Talon prepared to die.
The Atlantis happened to come across the crippled ship and offered to take the survivors aboard and return them to Hegemony space. Of the twenty-six survivors on board that ship, only Rrowl accepted the offer.
The other kzinti believed that they had been beaten, and that accepting aid from the monkeys (humans) was a fate worse than death. Rrowl disagreed, not out of cowardice, but out of the reasoning that he could bring so much more glory to his ancestors if he could live and continue to do great deeds, rather than to lie down in his fur and die.
Unfortunately, making this decision caused Rrowl to be branded an outcast. No kzinti vessel would take him, and the Atlantis was informed that the Hegemony would sooner see Rrowl escorted out of an airlock than returned to them. Disgraced, Rrowl accepted the asylum offered to him by Captain Morisson.
Less than a month later, Rrowl threw himself in front of a blade intended for the captain, causing one of his own heats to be punctured in the process. Fortunately, he recovered, and Captain Morisson, seeing his bravery and the fact that the kzinti was missing his calling, recommended Rrowl for the Academy.
Adapting to human customs was difficult for Rrowl, and it took him five years to complete the four year curriculum. He was hazed mercilessly aboard the Carson, which led to two reprimands, including one for striking a fellow officer (though the blow was in self defense, it badly injured the man, and Rrowl served time in the brig for it).
However, the kzinti distinguished himself in other ways, including a brave episode in which he personally went back for nearly eighty installation personnel who would have died during an evacuation if not for him.
Captain's note: Rrowl is a quality officer, despite what the reprimands might suggest. He is fanatically brave and committed to his duty, and frightening to behold in personal combat.
However, he suffers from the typical Kzinti lack of imagination in tactical situations, which is why he is a security officer, not a tactical one. He is master of ambush techniques, but cooperative maneuvers are difficult for him to fully comprehend.
With the Midway in dry dock, Rrowl was transferred to the Discovery as her new aSEC.
In 2368, Rrowl sought out Lieutenant MacTavish, in an effort to make himself into more than a one trick pony. He is currently servering as a tactical officer aboard the Discovery in pursuit of this goal.
