Ruea is a very slight, almost frail individual, which stems from her medical conditions rather than diet. She could be considered pretty by some standards, with her pale skin tone and more slender frame, but she does nothing to hide the blemishes of her skin, and truthfully she dislikes the use of makeup. The exception to this is her hair dye, an aqua blue tone that matches well with her eyes, but this seems to represent to her something other than simple aesthetics. She often wears a water droplet pendant made of aquamarine, but apart from that, has no jewellery. |

Personal Bio:

The colony of Atlantica was not without its dark side, as holds true with most populated cities. In any case, Ruea's birth parents were victims in a scandal that she was too young to know about. The involvement of social services resulted in Ruea's transferal to a new family. Things were becoming normal for her, and she was a quick learner, adapting in school at a fairly good pace. When she reached the top of her class, however, a minor pandemic had occurred that resulted in her becoming an orphan again.
Bad luck just seemed to follow her. She was skeptical at first, but as she moved between families, people wanted her around less, and she became convinced that it was something to do with the number 1. That number seemed to cause problems.
Eventually she moved to a different part of the colony, where people didn't know her. Things became normal then. She eventually attended university with a government grant, slowly meeting her degree requirements while working part time at a zoo. It was around this time when she met Rena for the first time. In addition, Ruea was careful never to be top of her class, just above average enough to be noted. Around this time she began to show an aptitude with understanding and even communication with marine life.
This quality was part of the reason why she ended up being sought after by starfleet for the petty officer role, to look after the various cetaceans on a few stations and ships. Her service began as any other petty officer, but gradually she exhibited strange behaviour upon reaching the designation of second class.
Ruea was often commended for her work ethic, working even when she wasn't actually on shift. This resulted in her promotion to second class relatively quickly, and even to first class. However, the first time she reached first class, she didn't go to her overseeing officer for the promotion. Instead, she ended up getting into a brawl at the bar, exhibiting signs of aggression and poor behaviour that had never been seen before. Consequently, she was immediately demoted back to second class.
After that, she developed a history of purposefully avoiding that promotion to first class. Eventually, however, she wound up with Rena, who recognized her as a classmate. The two old classmates became friends again in a relatively short time, with Rena acknowledging Ruea's desire to never move beyond second class. After that, Rena often requested Ruea as a member of her yeomen, and Ruea would follow, knowing that Rena would understand and never recommend her for promotion, even if she never told Ruea why. |
