Physical Description:

Yolan is a reasonably tall male, with very dark skin and long black hair reaching down to his waist. His face is soft and kindly, but constantly displays the mark of ancient wisdom. When not dressed in the garb of whichever religious group he is acting as a minister for, or in his Starfleet uniform, he generally dresses plainly, in long, dark robes, reminiscent of Earth monks from Ancient Europe. |

Family and Background:
|
Yolan's mother and father were historians on their world, both of whom were killed when the Borg attacked the el-aurian people. Yolan saw his two older brothers, who enlisted as soldiers to fight away the terrible menace, be captured by the Borg for assimilation whilst he was rescued. He has no free, living relatives left to his knowledge, aside from a second cousin by the name of Jinari Latesian who lives amongst the Xindi. |

Yolan studied Philosophy and History on his homeworld, and has since been an avid student and researcher in the field of Comparative Xenotheology. He has written hundreds of papers on the religious beliefs of dozens of species, and his work is well-regarded in the universities of many planets in the Federation and beyond. |

Yolan has been serving aboard Starfleet vessels for 47 years in the role of Chaplain. He has spent much of his time acting as a surrogate counsellor for spiritually-inclined crewmembers, as well as continuing to add to his impressive academic portfolio. |

Knows more than almost anybody else about the religious beliefs of alpha and beta quadrant species. Also, as an el-aurian, he has a talent for listening to people, who often enjoy telling him what they have to say. He has a flawless memory, not for numbers, shapes or other technical and physical details, but for conversations he has had with others and his estimations of their feelings. |

Personal Bio:
|
Yolan's history involves a great deal of happiness, and terrible pain. His early life was blissful, he was surrounded by a loving family, he lived in a time of very little strife and danger, and he loved to study, both from books and from talking to others. When the Borg struck, he was still young, and all that he was became torn apart inside of him as everyone and everything he loved was destroyed. Desperate to understand how to make sense of this chaos and suffering, he came to find out about the philosophies other races used to make sense of the universe. It was then that he found his purpose, to learn about and understand religious beliefs and spiritual philosophies of cultures across the galaxy. Although there is much within him still to be healed, and wounds that can never entirely be closed, he is learning more peace as the years go by. |
