Kendo was found as a "child" with no speech, no ability to read or write, and very few memories. Kendo has no visible sex organs and dna looks like nothing anyone has seen before so it's indeterminate what species or sex Kendo is.
Kendo was held under observation for nearly three months before it was determined safe enough to move the child to a group home. Kendo spent a year and a half at this facility and learned quickly how to read, write, and speak in English and Vulcan. The clever child was never officially adopted but kept as a pet study subject for eight years, until K grew strong and smart enough to show enough independent thought to fight a legal battle to be allowed freedom and to pursue a formal education among peers of similar maturity.
After winning the case for independence Kendo joined Starfleet Academy. |
