Eilal, like many Deltans, is extremely intelligent. He is quiet and reserved, often being mistaken as aloof. As a matter of fact, he has a well developed - albeit dry - sense of humor with a wicked appreciation for practical jokes, though he typically restricts these only to those he counts as friends.
As with any Deltan in Starfleet, Eilal has taken the Oath of Celibacy; it is well known that between the pheromones secreted by Deltans and the telepathic link that they form during sexual relations, that this type of contact usually results in insanity in the non-Deltan partner. He is extremely careful to guard against any such contact with non-Deltans.
Except for one area, that is. Deltan foreplay includes a great deal of telepathic connection, often in the form of placing erotic imagery into the mind of a partner. Eilal takes perverse pleasure into randomly placing such images into the minds of those around while maintaining a perfectly straight face; he takes great amusement in seeing the pupils of others widen in surprise seemingly out of the blue, seeing their confusion and embarrassment.
Eilal is quite fond of subtle jokes, puns, and dry observations, and will pepper conversations with these. However, he is an outstanding officer who takes his duties quite seriously, and possesses an unquenchable thirst for learning.
It is said that Deltan children learn the equations and calculations necessary for complex space navigation as simply as human children handle learning to count. As such, Eilal eschews any computational aides for virtually any sort of mathematics, calculating most problems mentally as quickly - and accurately - as a human would do with the aid of the computer. |
