Physical Description:

As with all Domtarians, Avanti has the enlarged frontal lobe of the skull with a single white haired brow. He also has the sharp curved nose that is noted in the inhabitants of Domtar V. However, at 6’ 8”, Avanti is very short for his race, which usually ranges between 8 to 9 feet tall.
He is broad shouldered and muscular, physically very big to most races in the federation. His body frame is at least twice the size of a human. His white hair is thick and wire-like, coming straight up from his head in an extended crew cut fashion.
Under his uniform, worn at all times, is a necklace with a small medallion – two silver wings on either side of a curved horn. This was a parting gift from his mother and Avanti never takes it off – believing it is a spiritual guide to keeping him safe.

Family and Background:
|
Avanti was born with a very rare genetic condition that stunted his growth. By the time he reached puberty at 15, Avanti stood only 6' 8" tall and had a hard time fitting in with the other kids of his age, who all were over 8 feet tall. As much as he trained and kept himself physical fit, he was just unable to compete in the games at the same level as his peers. Instead, Avanti found joy in reading and developed a knack for building and fixing things. Avanti mother (Sil) is a church elder and his father (Doh) is the owner of one of the most prestigious hotels in Opaque City. They have supported their only son as best they can despite his handicap. The move to Starfleet was at first a great concern to them, but now they are happy that their son has found his way in the universe. |

Personal Bio:
|
A quiet person, Avanti found joy in reading and developed a knack for building and fixing things. Due to his "small" size, he was able to get into areas where others could not. He worked in his father's hotel as a maintenance worker. His life changed when he was sent to fix a faulty heating unit in the room of a visiting diplomat. The Federation man was a human, and only 5'6' tall, yet he commanded respect from the elder council. The Diplomat got to talking with Avanti because he was a Domtarian that he could look eye to eye with, and they developed a close friendship. Avanti gave him the clue he was looking for with the Domtarians. The Federation had been attempting to play Domtarians at their events and losing. What they had to do was introduce a sport that the Domtarians had never seen. Due to the warm climate of Domtar V, they had no ice sports. Through the insight that Avanti gave the Diplomat, the federation was able to realize what was needed to get Domtar V into the federation. They challenged them to a hockey game, and beat them soundly – opening the door to negotiations. Once the paperwork was done, the Diplomat convinced Avanti to come with him, realizing that the young man didn't really feel part of his own world. The young man agreed and soon joined Starfleet. It was odd to him at first to be considered a big man in the Starfleet world, but he has found the acceptance he was seeking. |
