some questions

For all you folk who like to give their 2 cents. I am wondering a couple of things.

1) How do you normally keep track of characters in your games?

2) What kind of limit do you normally give on posting, or do you?

3) What tricks do you use to keep track of game info?

4) Do you use karma at all?

1. I keep notepad docs with current hitpoints, quick reference on xp, and any assorted notes that I need. Once or twice, I've resorted to excel spreadsheets, but that is rare. I do keep full copies of character sheets in doc files.

2. I usually ask for 1-2 posts per week at a minimum in my games (though we never seem to keep to it). I do not set max post counts.

3. See #1.

4. Sure. Mostly for fun, but I do applaud good posts and smite moronic and/or intentionally cringeworthy ones.

1) How do you normally keep track of characters in your games? I just can, I can leave a game for weeks on end then pick the characters and plot back up and continue, soz, not much help there.

2) What kind of limit do you normally give on posting, or do you? As a DM I like to make sure that each player has as much of an incentive to post as another, something I'm currently failing at, I don't consider it my call if some players are posting more then others because of that.

3) What tricks do you use to keep track of game info? Again I can just remember, but I do have a detailed plot line for my adventures, you can always read through the posts as well.

4) Do you use karma at all? If someone is very deserving of it, they make me smile or laugh. Kama is just a bit of fun and nothing to take seriously, although I have done in the past.

ok

1) How do you normally keep track of characters in your games?
I can keep track? Wow. Actually I usually keep notes that I scatter all over the desk and Vanadia then recycles after getting tired of moving them around for me.
2) What kind of limit do you normally give on posting, or do you?
I love posting! Post away. If I can get once a week I'm a happy man. I would take hourly if I could. I have sat down and click refresh hoping for a new post before.
3) What tricks do you use to keep track of game info?
See above with notes vs. recycle
4) Do you use karma at all?
I love soft caramel with chocclates...oh, Karma. Not at all actually. I smite a few on principle but that's about it.

...

1. I usually have an extensive character profile on the first page of the Q&A thread, with a quick overview of health, willpower and XP (or something like that) in the first post of that thread.

2. It really just depends on the game I'm running. Usually, I update once per week and I expect all Players to have posted by then, but in my upcoming Scion game I aim at updating as often as once every 3 days. It is flexible

3. It is all in my head, which is as reliable for remembering as an apple is for driving. So far, though, some of my games have been flexible enough so that I don't need to write down points as no one really notices when I change the plot. The worst thing about this is remembering all the names, so I'm starting to write some things down.

4. I applaud good posts (and usually the first post in the game) but I hardly ever smite anyone unless his post really needs to be changed. I had two Players whose introposts had to be edited by a modorator. They got smitten for doing it.
