I got Crabs!
I just got my new pets, two new hermit crabs. Their names are Fernando and Crab man ( from my name is earl)
IF any of you have any tips on caring for these guys, please drop me a line! I signed up on another forum all about hermies and they have taught me a lot already. But anything is welcome when it comes to caring for pets!

LOL!
Am I the only one who thought Jozan was discussing something really personal when he revealed he has crabs?

Got my attention!
I have a friend who had a few hermit crabs in high school. They've since died out and he didn't replace them since he's tring to graduate college.

caring and feeding
Keep them in a cool dry place, and feed them peanutbutter.
Seriously.

I also have crabs
Hermit crabs are good low-maintenance pets.
There's one thing to remember though - keep lots of shells of varying sizes in their habitat. They'll grow out of their current ones and want to move into new ones. Also, it helps to have some kind of miniature 'tree-like' things in the enclosure - twigs or something. In the wild, hermit crabs climb trees; if you put something for them to climb in their habitat, they'll appreciate it.

Today I went and biked to the pet store and bought four pounds of white sand, two extra unpainted shells, bathing salt, and a bathing dish. I set it up and they are climbing over everything! In there cage I have a piece of small choya wood and also a wooden life guard tower thing they climb on. I want to get them grapes later and watch them eat!

It is almost distrurbing that your crab thread has more posts than flirt's baby thread... lol.
Congrats on the new additions though. I think crabs are like the cutest thing in the world! Wish I could have one or a dozen of them myself. Too bad I have two kitties and a dog and they'd probably eat them...

Well I have two cats, you just need to keep an eye on them when they are out of the tank.

Crabs?
I agree I thought Jozan was blabbing about something best kept private.

Okay... thanks, Jozan, for the much needed laugh (and thanks from my company for the keyboard I just ruined by spewing coffee all over it after having read the title of this thread).
