Affiliates? Input, please!

The Red Dragon Inn has joined an affiliate ring with four large, high quality gaming sites.

The big plus for us is that we get a lot of exposure on these high traffic sites - exposure that will certainly bring new gamers and writers to the Inn. Who knows? Maybe we'll find another artist or two.

Of course, to get that kind of exposure, we have to return it. So, you see the affliate buttons on the top of every page of the site. I understand that they look a bit odd at first glance, but I think that in a day or so, we'll all be used to them.

I don't think that our current layout lends itself well to an "advertising space", which is fine by me. Or has been until now.

At this time, I'm happy to trade links with these sites, so I'm not really looking for input about that, but I AM open to input about the location of the links. If you can think of a better way to display them, please feel free to make suggestions.

Please understand, though, that I can't move them to the bottom of the pages; it's not fair to get great exposure from them and then try to cheat them in return. The buttons HAVE to be clearly visible, in a location "above the fold."

Anyone have any input?

Hmm...

I don't have a problem with the links at all, but they seem a bit untidy where they currently are.

I'm not sure if there are other possible locations that are still visible though.

woah

I've been using ADnD Downloads and D&D adventures for years, almost since I've been at the inn. Awesome with the link rink. But I do agree it's in an ugly spot.

I think they would look great in a little 2x2 block right below "there are currently X users in Dragonchat" and above the email login. At least on the main page.

Perhaps on the forums they could be moved to right below the newest post on a thread, or maybe replace one of the two T-shirt ads? Most pages have a block for T-shirt and Google ads, maybe just remove one of the T-shirt ones (really do we need two?) and put a verticle stack of links there.

buttons

I am thinking at the top, centre as a second line under the buttons.

Oddly enoughTo

I suggest top right/left.

I as always support the publicity of RDI but dislike the ads, so I'm in a weird spot, and declare war.

Please check out the dice roller. I am considering this as an alternative.

okay, done

I think that this is the look we're going with, subject to minor tweaks.

If you see a page that is missing the buttons, or see one that has them twice, please let me know!

Private messages

I don't see it when I go to private messages but since it is private, maybe you don't need to there.

nice catch!

I'd applaud you again for the help, but I can only do that once per thread.

I'm not worried about the ads not showing up on add or edit message screens, compose pm screens, etc. But they should show up on all "data" screens.
