I'm gonna get shot.... 2nd Edition DnD Game!
Okay, this is going to be set in the world of Audalis. This will be my first time DMing so it won't be strict on rules and such. In fact, you could just pop up knowing nothing about 2nd Edition or Audalis to play! (Where have we heard that before?)
I'd like some newbies and some expierenced players, so it's open to everyone. I need a decent sized group with at least the following:
Warrior (Paladins are fine, but only one.)
Mage
Priest
Thief, Archer, Ranger (Any of those)
I'm fine with otehr groups and don't mind if it ends up with 2 warriors, or 2 archers. I'd prefer one mage and priest. I won't a variety in my players, both races and gender. I also require a unique background. You can't just 'Be from Chindari Plains and left to go find some fun in adventuring'. I'd like a disgraced prince, a rogue elf, interesting things!
The group has just met so we'll be introducing ourselves. Practically, you all left home to travel to Ertain on some big hero recruitment. You get there to find an old woman with a mysterious quest. If this seems confusing, I can clear it up. But no more about to adventure!
Again, this will be my first time DMing so it may be very amateurish. Each player must write three paragraphs every time they post and, as usual, can't post what otehr people do. Apply if you're interested!

Experience? Check.
I've been playing 2nd edition since it was released. What books are you allowing? What llevel will we be starting? How will you be dividing xp for multi/dual-classed characters if we start above 1st level? What's the square root of a million? What method of generation will you be using? How will you be handling gear if you start above 1st level?
Depending on the answers to the above questions, I'm leaning towards a dwarven archer. (What? You think elves are the best archers? Baseless propaganda, I tell you! How can you fire accurately without a beard to guage wind direction and speed?) Otherwise, I'll likely be a human thief or bard, given my preference... However, since I have been playing for so long, and I've literally played every race/class/alignment combination in the game (except for some of the stuff in Complete Humanoids), I'm more than willing to fill in what the group needs if there's some kind of glaring hole in the party makeup, or if someone has an idea for a character that needs a brother in the party or something like that.
Oh, in case I wasn't clear - yes, I'm iunterested in the game.

Interested
REgardless of the answers to the above questions:
How about a gnomish Paladin?
Disdains horseflesh in favor of riding dogs. He considers them to be more intelligent, with different and unique attack modes. He himself is out to prove that small packages do not necessarily hold small accomplishments, so he prefers to be the only person of "small stature" in a group.
What think you?

Not to put a Damper on things
But in 2nd Edition only Humans and Elves can be Paladins.
But of course its Emybear's game so the call is up to her just putting in my 2 cents as a 2nd Edition fanatic .

I Think they
Modified that fact in one of the add on Complete series of books and am trying to locate that volume as I write this.
If I find it I will post it here if not then I could very well be thinking wrong but I know I saw it somewhere as I incorporated it into my Table Top game.

Well...
It's not in Paladin's HB, it's not in Elves' HB, and it's not in Skills&Powers. A lot of people liked to call BladeSingers the "elven paladin," which is completely wrong, but might the origin of something like that... Or it could be a Dragon Magazine article. All the rules I have won't even let half-elves do it, so I can't imagine a full elf getting it.

Should'a looked
... afore I did the leapin'.
Yer right. No sech thing azza gnomish Paladin in 2e.
Pfui!
<-- Looks in books -->
Okay. Staying with the gnomish type, we could opt for a lawful stupid -- err, good -- cleric of a war=type diety.
Or, if options ar allowed, a TreeTender priest (similar to a human druid) ...

Sounds great!
I’ve be looking for a new AD&D game for a while, if you’re still looking for players then I’d absolutely be interested.
Sounds like you’ve got a great group of players gathered as well.
Are you allowing kits and material from Skills & Powers material for this one, or just the options from the Players Handbook?

Re: Elven Paladins
As far as I’m aware only humans can be paladins in 2nd ed.
But: Elves, Dwarves, Halflings and Saurials (and probably a few others I've forgotten about) all got their own kits that basically allowed for racial variants.

Okay
First off, alot of those questions are still in progression. Second, Tann'Talas is wrong. I'm allowing any race paladin but only one. So you will have to fight to the death over that.
I love the character ideas your mulling over though. Didn't think I'd get this much interest to tell the truth. Oh, my highest level is gonna be 3. No characters above 3. Sorry ^.^

Level 3 it is, then.
I’m tentatively thinking of playing a mage/ thief or maybe just a single-classed thief type (don’t worry, a full background’s in the works). I'm not particularly interested in playing a paladin, so if someone else would like that spot then feel free.
Rystefn K’ryll, if you’d like to create characters with a joint background then I’d be interested.
I’m already got a couple of ideas in mind that could work well as a dual concept, or we could use one of yours if you’d prefer.

Level 3
See... here's the thing about flat level ratings: you bone the thief/bard. For exaple, a level 3 wizard has at least 5000xp, but a thief or bard with that number would be level four. It's something most people don't think about, especially since 3rd edition standardized xp progression across the classes. I'd highly suggest giving the players an XP number rather than a level, since it solves that problem and it makes multi- and dual-classed characters much simpler to adjudicate as well.
Here's how it breaks down for dual-classing: (this happened to me once, by the way.) Say you start at 4th level. Instinct for a dual-classed PC is to say that you get a 2/2 character instead. A level four wizard would have ten thousand experience at the minimum, while the fighter/bard dual-classed character has 2000/1250 for a total of 3250, less than 1/3 of what the wizard would have, and the power-level of the two characters in play would reflect this, making the 2/2 character seriously crippled in relation to the rest of the party.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do in your game here, just pointing out a rather common issue which weights the game away from multiclassing and from rogues (and hits rogue-group multiclassed characters especially hard).

Of course someone starts a 2e game while I'm too busy to join anything. Meh, regardless, all the best for the game. I'll be reading.
