The Chakran Portal - Recruitment for an Audalis Adventure

"…through the gate it poured,
an unmerciful flood;
her children slain,
her halls red with blood -
Chakranna weeps."
-- excerpt from "Alas Chakranna" by Torgrim GlyphCarver, Scribe

Dear Members of the Red Dragon Inn,

Very soon the gaming forums will merge with the rest of the community that made up Rdinn.com. One of the most prominent features for me was the existence of a unique campaign setting called Audalis. Recently I have dug into this setting and worked on an article. It aroused my appetite for the setting and I would very much like to run a game in it.

A long-running campaign is not what I’m looking for right now, though. This will be an adventure that will definitely have an ending and it’s up to the players how soon that ending will be.

The Details: - This game will be set in Audalis, and so you’ll be playing according to this setting.
- The group will start as 5th level characters, and we shall rule that they have been together as an adventuring party for some time.
- The quest of this group will be to find out what exactly happened to the city of Chakranna and the Chakrandrum race (The only information known is that they were a type of dwarves that were exterminated in the second ogre war, 750 BER.)
- I’m going to need a good group of people. I will not run this adventure if only 2 people join in. Five players would be perfect.
- Posting will go at a rate of one post a week majorly speaking. Posts do not have to be long, but I do want some description if time alows it.

Character Creation - Edition will be 3.5. Don’t worry if you’re unfamiliar with rules above AD&D 2nd edit. I will gladly help convert any character that you can come up with. You can see this as a fun way of learning the new rules. Note that I am not looking for a power-playing experience, as 3rd edition is often pictured.
- If you intend to use any other books besides the core-books, please contact me. You are very much allowed to, but I would like to know where you found your resources.
- Roll 4d6 for your stats and drop the lowest one.

If you have any questions feel free to post them here or send me a private message. Here are links to some valuable information:

For all information about races, locations and the pantheon you should look at the Audalis Mainpage I suggest you all read the article about The Chakrandrum Race. It might prove helpful.

Hoping to receive many interested gamers,

Almerin

whoa

It always warms my heart to see Audalis games.

Will this game be open to khords (dwarves) only, or all races?

definately all

All races are welcome. When the site merges I will surely run a game that involves Khords only (set in the Khordal Kingdom).
But that will come in time. For now I have this adventure in mind, and any race is welcome.

anybody?

I had hoped for more enthusiastic replies, but we still have time.

Please note that if you don't want to read up on the setting, you don't HAVE to. It is desirable for better roleplaying experience, but not mandatory.

I'd like to play. I don't know what race/character i want to be yet. I think either a human or a female dwarve (as hairy as possible, )....

You're an excellent story-teller, so i'm curious how this will be. :]

Fan! Val!

Thanks for showing interest in my game guys!
Now the big question is: What do you want to play? I'm not looking for anything specifically so you can pick what you like.

Oh, one thing I forgot: Starting Money.

You'll have 9000 GP to buy stuff from. This can be any kind of gear, but I would like magical gear to be checked by me. Send me a PM and we'll sort things out nicely.

Character Description
Loda. A Khord who was once a natural, beautiful druid, who drank herself away into a world of butch-woman ways, fighting, drinking, hair, and big bellies. It was pretty much destined for her…in her genes (*whispers* the mother, you know). She doesn’t remember much of her past anymore. The only thing in her life that she has to remember by is her wolf, Gothard. Black as night on the top, gray as rain on the bottom. A lover, but just as tipsy as Loda at times. She loves him, so she shares her beer with him.

Loda is a rather large dwarven female, weighing in at 180 pounds, and a great 50 pounds of that comes from her big old, bushy, untamed hair (she mostly keeps that in something of a dreadlock/braid ordeal). She makes beer! Has her own little brewing pot, even. So when a long, cold night is upon you, Loda is a great companion to have around. She wears big and soft, comfortable green pants, and black studded leather tops. Sleeveless. She still, however, hits on men…of all races. She’s quite easy in fact. So don’t let the manly appearance fool you, she’s all woman, inside and well...inside.
Although she’s a bit rough around the edges, Loda is still a careful, and even graceful druid. Just not quite as she once was. But hey, she's still all there! for now anyway.

Great!

Welcome Drakar,

Hope to see your character up soon.

Fantasy, your character looks good, can't wait to see the description.

We need one more player to start this game, though. Anybody out there?

Gunar Goldstone

Drakar, you character looks good. I have found only two things that you forgot, misinterpreted or something else. I'll send those in a private message. The rest looks good.

Anybody else interested in playing?

exalted

I have the book of exalted deeds and would be interested in playing an impoverished sorcerer/wizard. It would mean that I wouldn't have any spells with costly components, but that would be fine with me. Also, do you have the completed mage book. I would like to set up a character to take the ultimate magus prestige class, which is a mixture of spontaneous/prepared arcane casting.

to Vesper

Thanks for showing interest in my game, Vesper.
In my opinion, the Voluntary Poverty is slightly overpowered, but that is when you play it on high level. Since we're starting at level 5 it is alright with me. Another point that plees for it is the fact that it will give great roleplaying opportunities. So I'll be expecting a lot from you, hehe. J/k

I must admit that I do not own the complete mage book yet. I looked on wizards.com though and found it in an excerpt:ultimate magus
It seems you cannot play this class, since you need 8 ranks in spellcraft. You can put 8 ranks in a skill once you achieve 5th level, so you would have to wait a level to become the prestige class.
Reading through it I also think it is slightly powerful, getting extra spells from both wizard AND sorcerer class. And I'm trying to stay away from too much powerplay. I hope that's no problem.
