Sounds of Trumpet - Q&A
...the seven hands of God will touch the Earth...
-unknown author
THE END IS NIGH!!!
That is the screaming you hear from the corner of the street where you drive to work every morning. There is this homeless guy who keeps screaming the same words over and over, holding the Bible and has lost the few followers he gathered the week before.
"I was driving to work, like I always do early in the morning. I like arriving early as he.. ehm, heck to work. Skip the traffic, y'know. Anyway, I was driving to work, like I said I was, when I heard this thundering sound in the sky, but there weren't any clouds there. I looked from the road for only a brief second, and when I looked back there was this guy standing an inch away in front of the car. I swear to God, I hit him. I even have the dent in my car to prove it. But when I gathered enough courage to check on the guy, he was gone. There was nothing to suggest he was even there in the first place, except for the dent in my car. Not even a drop of blood!"
Sometimes there are these events that you just can't explain. Some people call them miracles, some call them witchcraft, and some even call it heroism. A man goes running into a burning house and returns without burns. A woman lays hand on a sick child and the child is forever healed. A crowd sees a person howering over them under the clear skies.
One fine day, appearing to be completely normal when you woke up, you find yourself with an ability you did not have when you went to sleep the evening before. You can move objects with your mind or a simple gesture, you can create fire from nothing, you can fly. What ever it is that you can do, it is not normal. Is it evolution? A crazy experiment by your doctor? Are there others like you? You don't know the answers. Not yet.
For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, this is the Q&A thread for Sounds of Trumpet, a game of Mutants & Masterminds, 2nd edition, where the players play a group of people who suddenly find that they have a special gift. Recruitment for this game is over, unless one of more players suddenly decide to back out. You are welcome to lurk about and even join the discussion on this thread if you have a pointer or a question you want answer to about this particular M&M game. If you want to join as a possible runner up in case of a player backing out, post in the recruiting thread and not here. This is a thread for questions about the Sounds of Trumpet in particular and not for recruiting.
For you players, this is the Q&A thread for the game Sounds of Trumpet, as you may have guessed. This thread will host your questions and hopefully answers to those questions, as well as collective information of what individual characters know in general (no details). This thread also includes some information about how to make a character for this game. Finally, your characters will be stored here for safe keeping.
I saw the following setup somewhere, and found it interesting.
Q&A Content:
1 - Introduction
2 - World and Character creation information
3 - List of Players/Characters and Character knowledge
4-10 - Charactersheets
11+ - Discussion, Questions and Answers

World and Character creation Information
The world in this game is pretty much the same as the one the players live in. Historic events are exactly the same, goverment structures are alike and so on. The difference is mostly hidden from the players at the start of the game.
Players begin the game with a character made with the 2nd edition Mutants & Masterminds rules. There are no specific house-rules that need to be kept in mind when creating these characters. Almost any power is allowed, but multiple, unrelated powers are discouraged (but not entirely banned). Banned powers include Magic and Device; this is not a magical world and character are not to rely of super-science technology. I, as GM, allow myself to ban specific powers and feats when they are brought to my attention, or limit them so that they won't get out of hand.
Additionally, since the characters have only recently acquired these powers, certain powers are obviously useless (such as immunity to aging).
Characters begin at Power Level 8. That gives the players 120 power points to spend on their characters. Every character needs to have at least one power, even if that power is only supernatural hearing. Point is, no character can be made entirely without any power.
Every character must have at least one Complication (page 122) and/or one Drawback (page 124). Every time a character's Complication comes into play, that character regains a Hero Point.
Finally, when creating your character, consider what world he lives in. You can create a soldier, but your character won't have half of the military's armory in his garage. If I think your character needs work, I will require you to make these changes.
