Why Valimar has been gone....Horrible.

So I disappeared suddenly...and I feel I should let everyone know why. Almerin already knows half the story, but only half.

Like the day I put up my last update (killing off Grugg), my GF of a very long time calls me crying. Her father has colon cancer and it spread to his liver. So I had to drop what I was doing and go see her...and I've stayed with her for a long time, because she can't sleep at night and is in a deep depression.

Then....It only gets worse.

On January 31st we both find out that a mutual, very close friend to both my GF and I is in the hospital, dying of cancer as well. By dying I mean she died that day. Talk about a horrible series of events...It's astonishing because we never knew she was sick...She never acted sick...she was always happy...it's weird. She had broken up with her BF for no reason 3 weeks before...So..I guess she knew and somehow kept it a secret.

Anyways, I WILL be back..I'm about ready to now anyways...I need to get my mind off things....I've been around depressed people for way too long.

If I hear about Cancer one more time this year I'm going to snap.

yes horrible

I wish you and the ones close to you a lot of strength, man. I hope things turn out for the better for your girlfriend's dad.

Welcome back, but take as much time as you need, ok?

...

Man, I hate these kind of bad news. I wish you and your girlfriend, and your families, all the best. I have never been good with handling this kind of situations, so I'm sorry if my words won't help much.

So sorry

I'm so sorry to hear about all of this.

It's hard to know what to say or do in situations like this.
Just know we are thinking about you and wishing you and your GF strentgh and courage.

hmm

Innocent death by zombie usually helps blow off some steam, eh?

Good to have you back, a little distraction is sometimes a good thing.

That really sad...

I'm sorry about your friend. Try writing your favourite memory of them, it might help.

What i can say

I can't sya much, but i can say this. Depression is a hard struggle, but you do get past it eventually.

Oh

I'm not really depressed. But being around so much depression every day has been having quite the effect on me. Now something I don't understand is this. Ever since my GF's father got diagnosed with cancer, he's seriously become a major....to put it nicely, jerk. To everyone.

I always thought that when someone finds out something like this, they sort of start looking for silver linings....Guess I was wrong. He was never a friendly person but he's become downright nasty. Kind of makes it hard for me to feel sorry at all for him....The reason this is so hard for me is being there for Joanne (gf).

Ugh. She has been feeling better lately. He's going through treatment. Hopefully things work out, for her sake.

two possibilities

He might be trying to push everyone away from him in a vain attempt to make his passing hurt them less. If he makes everyone hate him, then they don't have to mourn him. Or he doesn't want to accept his fate so he is angrily pushing people away to make denial easier.

Either way, it doesn't really help anyone. My thoughts are with you.

grief

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. The five stages of death. It's not terribly uncommon for people to just become bitter with the world and everyone in them. Hopefully things will be better soon.
