WotC E-books

Alright, if nobody has noticed, Wizards has decided to yank all of their online sourcebooks from different sites. Needless to say, I am out some books due to this and would be wondering who all has pdf/text version of dnd books, no matter what version. If anyone who does could be as kind to email me what they have, I would appreciate it. This would help me build a compilation that could be used to help individuals further down the road.

I will update this as to what I receive as I do.

Thanks.

Size matters

I'd be happy to mail you all I have, but most email systems have a file size limit well below some of the .pdf files for the books I have.

PM me and we should be able to arrange an FTP file download, if I can remember how to set up my end as a server.

Might I point you towards...

I find that the website:

www.scribd.com
Works quite well. It doesn't have everything, but it definitely has a large supply, as well as other material.

Scribd

Most of the TSR/WoTC stuff that I've tried to download from scribd lately had already been deleted. Still, its worth a try.

Illegal!

Folks, the distibution of such books infringes upon the copyright laws of this country. WoTC have a right to control their revenue venues, so I'm afraid I am going to have to put a stop to this discussion on the Inn. This is to protect that which we all care about here, and to prevent any of you from finding yourselfes at the other end of a vindicative company's lawsuit so that they can make an example out of you.

Sorry to be the wet blanket, but thanks for not discussing such things on this site.

OGL

Remember the Open Gaming License (OGL) applies only to core source material released under said license and can be found at http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/.

This content is free to download, modify and copy. All other content (including the scanned versions of core materials) are illegal to distribute, copy or modify without permission as Brom said.

I agree

I fully agree with Bromern about the issue of copyright and materials written. We should not be party to any illegal distribution of W0TC stuff.

I just wish they would release the old stuff that you can't find copies easily.

Actually, not illegal

Just as it is not illegal to allow someone to sit in your home and watch a movie you paid for, it is also not illegal to let your friend use your D&D book. We're not talking about SELLING copyrighted materials here.

However

it is illegal to make a copy of your D&D books and give it to your friend. Carries a 5 digit fine to the copier alone in Canada.

On anothr note

Even though I have just about all the books of D&D stuff core and others. I would pay to have E-books of them all. What WoTC needs to do is put them out as E-books after they stopped supporting a version.

Yes

That would actually be cool. One thing I hate is not being able to get some of these books now that 4th edition has taken over.

...

I think it is an attempt to try and force those who disliked 4th edition to convert to it. I, like others, actually did buy pdfs of a few 3rd edition related material, and I am disappointed that no one will be able to do so any longer.

If anything it's likely to drive people towards finding illegal means to download that material, rather than driving them towards 4th edition.
