The Old Republic

I'm not a big fan of MMORPGs but a friend of mine mentioned that a new Star Wars MMO was being worked on. I scoffed at first, until he mentioned that it was a follow up to the excellent Knights of the Old Republic series, and that apparently they're trying to make the story central to the whole gaming experience.

That whetted my appetite, and so I was wondering if anyone in the know knew anything more about the game?

hmm

That's all I've heard as well, but I am definitely excited.

hmm

In my bunker, waiting for them to singlehandedly ruin the series.

Otherwise elated.

I was poking around the website that they have for the game (which is a surprise since there's no release date or any sign of the game being complete). There's quite a good comic to check out, and a some interesting videos from the developers.

This one in particular I thought was interesting.

ugh

I'm no fan of MMOs but I do like KotOR 2 (haven't tried 1). I was really disappointed when I found out that they were doing a MMO instead of KotOR 3 or something. I would have preferred that.

I felt the same way when I heard about it. I'm not a big fan of the MMOs out there right now. But from the first glimpses and news of this one, it does seem worth trying.

Part of the reason is that Bioware have a long and proud history of making some brilliant rpg games. And if they can't make a MMORPG that has a strong story at its heart then no one can.
