Favorite Non-Standard RPG

And by non-standard, I mean besides D&D, Star Wars/Trek, that kinda thing.

I like Spirit of the Century, Victoriana, Deadlands, and Castle Falkenstein, myself. My steampunk addiction is showing. Oopsie.

Hmm...

I'm guessing Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay isn't what you're looking for? Would RIFTS do? If not WFRP, then I'd say it's RIFTS or Delta Green.

Not gonna lie

I do love the career system in WFRP. I'd call it non-standard, just because of that.

How about Dark Heresy. Or Shadowrun.

CORTEX

I like the new Cortex rule system from Margeret Weiss games. It is the system that I game with for the Firefly/Serenity games but the cortex system is a generic rule system that can be used for any genre. I like the simplicity of rule to leran and that the game is more geared to role playing and rewarding good role playing of characters.

I concur...

If Shadowrun is non-standard, I have to agree that it was one of the funnest RPGs I've played... Lots of RP potential along with guns and magic and all out fraggin' drek!

Also, Cortex... Firefly/Serenity RPG was great fun and, having glanced at the Supernatural RPG which uses the same system, can make the prediciton that it'd be a hoot to play as well... Guess that Cortex is probably the most versatile/adaptable "non-standard" systems I've ever seen...

I just had a thought

I almost forgot, but I do know of a non-standard RPG. I don't know if you could say this is my favourite, as it is the only one I really know, but CJ Carella's WitchCraft is a modern day guns and magic rpg that I find allows for a great deal of character customization and adapts naturally to creating interesting role-play-worthy characters.

FF

While I never managed to find a group to play with I did find a table-top Final Fantasy game once long ago. (I could probably find it again if I hunted hard enough..) I really wanted to play it, but I had a hard enough time finding DnD games, much less trying to get people to sit down and learn a whole new game.

Don't suppose anyone would be willing to take the time to try to learn to run a game using the system, assuming I can find it again, on the site?

Paranoia

I don't really consider Paranoia and Ninjaburger real games because I've never seen books of them in person, only online.

They are fun as hell though

Thank you for your cooperation

Please report to the nearest termination center immediately... I forgot all about Paranoia. That one was really good fun. We used to have the books and adventures. Wonder what happened to them....

Paranoia

I'll have to give paranoia a look. The Exodus RPG looks pretty fun too, it's what became of the Fallout d20, as it turns out.

And I'd be interested in a Final Fantasy game. I found a couple different systems for it, but never played. One's called Zodiac, I know that much.

I'd be interested in a final fantasy game with you. If you can find the rules again, let me know.

Also, if I can find the site again, I saw someone was turning the elder scrolls world into d20 rules. I'll try to find those again.

FF Game

I have found both the rules I had found years ago, as well as the Zodiac Fletch mentioned. I think Zodiac is a little watered down myself, but the one I found years ago can be found at http://www.returnergames.com/ord/index.php/Main_Page. I know I could link it, but I'm not that worried about it, a mod could always fix that if they so desired, personally I don't mind a little copy and pasting. The entire rulebook is on the wiki page which I have linked, the download can be found at http://www.returnergames.com/

Also, I haven't looked over it yet, but I found this, a FF D20 translation. http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs42/f/2009/129/2/1/FF3_5e_by_Raidzuo.pdf
