Fates of Fortune Art

Okay... so I just finished a new picture and, since it was one of the very first (and very few) pics I've done using watercolor as a medium, and since it definitely fits in with the nature of our beloved RDINN, I figured I'd share...

I figure I'll also use this thread to "showcase" some of the other artwork and sketches and whatnot that I've done (for Fates of Fortune, in particular) but, to get us started, have a gander at my latest:

Wandering Stars
Enjoy... critique... whatever.

Thanks for peekin'.

Well damn

That's some quality art right there. I don't know why, but I never knew you drew. Good show.

That sounds really sarcastic, but I really mean it.

That's awesome

That's great. As an avid reader of The Fates of Fortune this is fabulous. I have to say I pictured Nyx a little differently, but nevertheless, it is very true to the images they gave me (Nyx being perhaps a bit more thin-faced).

Now go get me another page to read (wait, it's Meri's turn now, isn't it?)

Your drawing reminds me of a friend. You wouldn't by chance know an artist by the name of Kim Pitts would you Eol

Thanks, all!

Grugg - didn't take it as sarcastic at all, sonny boy! Oddly enough, there are a lot of folks hereabouts who tell me they didn't know I draw.

Meri - I wondered if you'd notice Cay's ear... Particularly glad you like it so much... you inspired a good deal of it after all.

Sibby - You're right, Nyx's face is supposed to be a bit thinner... I think it's the angle or turn of his head that gave me fits and probably could be "fixed" with a bit more shading and such... *nods* ... Of course, that smirk of his tends to make him look a bit more cheeky, too, doesn't it?

Tann - If you can afford to pay for that to be a tattoo, I'll let ya pay for it to be inked on my back.

Tus - Nope... I don't think I know Kim...

Also... I'll link a few more pics here a bit later... like maybe the very first renditions I did of the pair that I whipped up during the Shadow Over Drasnia run... some newer ones that I've come up with since then... and, who knows, maybe I'll even scan and share some "conceptual" sketches that I scribbled out as well.

A couple more...

The first "finished" picture of Nyx that I did a few years back - Nyx Shyndyn His coat, as you may notice, was more a red-black originally... went with the "shadowy purple" color a bit later on in the development and like it much better, I think...

And the first pic of Cay, too - Cayrimsa Etellenya Cay has changed/developed a bit, too, since Meri gave me the original description that inspired this pic but the same "Bedine Coin" in that newer pic of the pair appears in this picture, too.

More recent interpretations

Nyx stargazing - Taken from the scene in Fates in which Nyx is sitting on the Gray Arm Docks and discovers "Quenat en Etellenya" among the constellations... Still need to finish the background on this one.

Cay in her "typical attire" - The Witch of the Wharf in all her sack-dress glory... Something of a glimpse of Drasnia in the background... I kinda love this one.

Opening it up...

... cuz I've become way inspired by the tale. If any of you who read (or write) for Fates have a scene/character/whatever in mind that you'd like to see put to paper, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

Nice work

I'm beginning to wonder if all the good writers here also draw

Well

Eventually my dear we will have to have something a bit more... intimate... I think between them.

We did finally have the first picture with the two of them together, now they'll need to touch or something.

Although Cay might not like it too much, she will just have to deal.

But then again the best scene for that might still to be written.

A close up of her holding his dagger to his throat while he tried to heal her wounds would be interesting though come to think of it... hmmmm...

Well it isn't by Eol... but...

And it isn't as good as his stuff... but it fits here so I thought I would share.

Here is a quick sketch I did of Cay, that first night when he finds her wrapped in her blankets. One day I hope to add the red tree tapestry to the background as she should be leaning against it.

Thanks, Meri!

I love that pic!

And, for the record, I think your work is every bit as good as mine or anyone else's. We have different styles, that's all... and aren't we always our own biggest critics?

Thanks for sharing, dear.

A work in progress

Working on a piece for this and figured I would share the small bit I have sketched out so far since it turned out so nicely. I think I got some strange looks at the Red Lobster while doodling this, glad I didn't get any of my coconut shrimpies on it.

For your enjoyment.

A night in Nyx's Crypt
