Winds and Sand Q&A
This thread is for all out of character conversation for the Realms of Twilight - Winds and Sand game.
The first things I would like to state is that all of the characters are expected to pay 10 gp a month as guild fees, as well as 10% of any plunder from raids, investigations, etc.
In exchange for this you receive your meals (assuming you are at the kitchen/dining hall on time) and small 10' x 10' rooms with a straw bed and a chest for clothing and other belongings.
You also have the services of a smith to repair your armor and (potentially) craft new stuff for you at a discounted price.
There is a ranking system int he guild, but none of you have been members long enough to quite figure it out. You do know that completing missions earns you prestige within the guild. Higher profile missions completed earn you more prestige. However, failing higher profile missions can cost you more than just prestige... (use your imagination).
Also, when you guys raise level and choose feats, I require that there be some logical reason. For instance, you can't raise Climbing if you didn't even attempt to climb something. That being said there will be some downtime in between missions that you will have free time for crafting, training, carousing... or whatever else you choose to do.
Any questions?

first Q
Steelight, would it be possible to get a bit of an idea of where we are, building wise? Where do we meet, what liberties do we have to shape the city etc.
Is there a Blue Hand Headquarters, if so, is that where we sleep? Who do we report to, etc.
Crowe, there's a PM coming your way, suggesting our characters have some kind of relationship, as we're both dwarves. This doesn't have to be so, but I thought it might be fun to be brothers, or nephews or something. Unless the DM doesn't want this.
And where can we find info on the setting? Is it possible to get a link up somewhere? I'm wondering about Dieties for my monk.

That was more than 1!
The meeting room you are currently in is on the first floor off of the common room (which opens out to the street through various passages/doors). You are currently housed in the guild hall in 10'x10' rooms that are sparsely furnished. Feel free to pursue housing outside of the guild hall if you choose to find a way to afford it.
Is there a Blue Hand Headquarters, if so, is that where we sleep? Who do we report to, etc.
The guild hall is the headquarters of the Blue Hand. To begin with, you all sleep in your rooms there. See the previous answer. You answer to a rough appearing man named Ravin LeShad. Though he is more of a contact point than a boss. He is the one who directed you all to this room. You receive your missions/assignments via messengers (which may be members of the guild or may not). It is one of these messengers you are currently waiting on. Inside these messages it details your contact for that particular assignment, which is who you talk to about any additional mission details and who you report to upon completion/failure.
I will add a post on the characters thread with a list of significant NPCs and their relationships to the characters after I get everyone's character sheets. For ease of reference for you guys.
I'm perfectly fine with you guys having some sort of relationship. As long as it makes sense.
The general setting is described (more or less) on my site forum: http://realmsoftwilight.hqforums.net/
As far as deities, I can send you a list of the regional pantheon for the continent if you wish. (the pages from my book dealing with that).
I would like to state officially that any materials from my soon to be published book that I send out via email to the players remains my intellectual property and cannot be copied, posted or otherwise distributed without my express written consent. (gotta get my company legal stuff out of the way. )

yes
Please send the information, since it might matter. I'm waiting on Crowe's reaction before going into making my charry.
For reference, I'm going to hyperlink what you posted: Realms of Twilight.

Thanks.
I haven't had a chance to look up and figure out the hyperlinks yet. Thanks for making it easier. The main site also has some info, but it's currently being changed a bit so the information present may also be changing.

Perhaps
I could probably send you all a map of the continent if you would be interested. That might make things a bit easier in the future.
One other thing. Though I am not what you might call a player killer, as Dakarta can attest, I will not hesitate to use your opponents to their fullest capabilities, enforce the effects of the heat (particularly on metal) and other such things. With the group we have, I'm sure you're up to the task. But I assure you, this will not be easy.

Map
Maps are neat. Might help us figure out what we're doing. Especially if you make references to other locals. I wouldn't mind a copy

One thing I forgot
I did forget to ask for spoken languages. So please decide those as well. As for the area, since t is the only real free city, you can find all walks of surface life there. Goblinoids, dwarves, gnomes, elves, thri-kreen... and almost anything else. I don't have regional languages, as that seems to get a bit confusing. (though i have considered it). At most it might take you a little bit to understand what someone else is saying. Like an american trying to understand the slang of a british person for instance.
As always, I do reserve the right to veto any languages I deem unacceptable (like Drow or Undercommon for example).

In case no one noticed
I already have the main thread set up. Feel free to introduce yourselves (or not) as you choose. The messenger will likely arrive a week from Sunday (unless all introductions are complete with no ensuing conversation prior to this Sunday).

Another point
I also want to point out that though everyone that has turned in a sheet to me has chosen to be chaotic, there are certain limits to what the guild will accept in that respect. You are expected to uphold any contracts you take and either complete them or report the failure. You are expected to conduct yourself with relative professionalism when on a job for the Blue Hand. While the guild itself may not be Lawful exactly, they do have their rules. If you violate those rules you risk reprisal from within the guild, or even expulsion.
Also, bear in mind that EVERY action you take has consequences in my game. Some good, some bad. But don't expect to randomly knock over a noble or rob a beggar and never hear about it again.
One last warning. There tend to be numerous plot lines going on simultaneously in my games. Some of them you will see, some of them you will not. You will interact with all of them at one point or another whether you realize it or not, and your actions will affect the direction that particular plot line (and anything tied to it) takes.
Again, take care with the whole chaotic thing. I wouldn't want to have to kill a character for being too chaotic for his own good, despite alignment. But I will not hesitate to do so if laws are broken (either the city's or the guilds) or other such things and they are caught.
Shield Wolf brought up a good point. Equipment available in Sandstorm published by Wizards of the Coast IS available for purchase, either before the game begins or as long as you are in Calatain (for the most part).
Good gaming!

Stupid Question
You mentioned that the thieves guild needed to battle any number of other guilds for power and wealth. Are we a thieves guild? Or are we the other guild?

Answer
There is actually more than one theives' guild, and the Blue Hand is nt any of them. They are a Mercenaries' Guild, though it is not unheard of for them to be contracted for rogue-like jobs every once in a while. For now, the Blue Hand isn't strong enough to rival any of the thieves' guilds so they are very careful what manner of theif related jobs they accept. And there are many other guilds outside of the theives' guilds as well. Yours is only one of many.
Only jobs accepted by the guild leadership are passed on to its members (such as the one you are currently waiting for.)

elaboration
For Echo's clothing, since all I really said was oddly dressed, think Hennet, the iconic sorcerer for 3.5 but less straps and buckles and more loosely flowing desert friendly fabrics and scarves of various colors tied here and there for various reasons.
As a side note for the rest of you, Echario has a reputation among the guild as a cold loner, making no friends and alienating most everyone around him. For a lot of people the first time they even hear him speak is when he is casting a spell. But deep down beneath the cold facade he really is a big softy, loyal through and through to the few people that prove themselves worthy of his friendship. Don't expect him to open right up, but don't let his silence discourage you from trying to interact.

Not like this in real life
Don't hate me I took this awkward concept and ran with it, I promise Thiferl will settle down after he's comfortable around other people. But for the mean time, i guess that makes it a running gag...

Well
At the very least this should be an interesting ride.
Hey, what do you guys think about standardizing the post subjects with your character names? I'll use "Game Update" just to keep things simpler and better organized (and so we have the image of who is saying/doing what).
