Charaters without stories

It happens all the time to me. You create a really great charater in your head but you have no where to put them. So instead of letting them die in my head; why not post them somewhere so they won't be forgotton?

Also if you some charaters that you want to share because you love them or you don't want to lose them. Feel free to share. I'm sure, everyone love to hear about them.

Characters

You guys do realize that anything you post here, including your characters, become the property of the web site owners, right?

Copyright clarification

Okay... in a broad sense, yes, anything that gets posted on the forums sort of "becomes property" of the "web site owners" but technically, that's not 100% the case. The Red Dragon Inn (and/or it's staff, administration, owners) have absolutely NO intention of hijacking any intellectual property, story snippets, etc from any of it's Innmates. The blurb in the TOS that's got Flanker all up in twitchy-town is there to primarily protect the Inn (and/or its owners) from any sort of legal drama where actual copyrights and what not are concerned, not to "steal ideas" from it's members or anything like that.

Technically, the posts you all tack up here become property of the Inn (inasmuch as some posts may need to be edited or deleted for one reason or another) and, if you happen to contribute anything to the Audalis Campaign setting that, at some point in the future, actually becomes part of that setting, it will likely become "property" of the Inn wholesale (because the Inn was, after all, originally created to be a "home" for our beloved Audalis). Your games, your posts, your characters, etc, are still all yours, gang... I'm pretty sure this is addressed elsewhere on the forums... I know I've seen it discussed more than once hereabouts, anyway...

Post away folks... I promise, none of the characters that show up here will end up in any of the Big Budget Summer Blockbusters that I'm working on.

yea

Technically because I don't believe we could legally edit posts if not. And we have to be able to edit posts. And what Eol said.

Point being, we're not going to steal your stuff. And if someone else does steal something you post to the Inn, THEN we can go after it. We're a community.

That being said, It's not wise to post something you plan on publishing and making money off of. Here or anywhere else on the internet. Once it's out there it can never be taken back.

Oh god thread derailment

I had a character that I really liked that I was going to use in one of Vil's games before RL intervened and it was indefinately postponed. Beguiler-type character with a penchant for using illusions to keep her real identity a secret while masquerading as a fighter and not telling the party and whatnot.

Oh my that was going to be fun.

I also like sandwiches.

Metricum Gluestone

I think his name was Metricum Gluestone, not sure on the last name though. He was a Khordaldrum cleric in one of Olan's games. He was a bit of an inventor as well, always tinkering and carrying loads of scrollcases with drawings and sketches for machinery. He carried a hammer with the holy symbol of Kharox (his God) in relief on the side. Basically, what happened was if you whacked somebody hard enough, they would get that symbol engraved in their skin.

He wore goggles (like welding goggles) on his forehead. Whenever he would heal somebody he would strap them over his eyes to shield himself from the energy.

I remember he saved Admiral's character from certain death by use of brains rather than some priestly magic or ability. Those are always the fun moments.

Anyway... the game died, and he was never used again.

hmmm

If I remember right I was playing Alexander in that game, the rich necromancer that was disowned by his family because of all the time he spent in graveyards lol

I wish we hadn't lost the old threads. There were a lot of good character designs in there

Ch'dau (Daeron Cynj)

One of my earliest characters ever was a mutant mountain lion named Ch'dau that I came up with for a Gamma World romp... Had a lot of fun just putting the character sheet together and coming up with a little snippet of a background... then, when it came time to actually play him, the fun just took off in all kinds of directions and, by the time the campaign was over, I discovered that I had essentially created what I lovingly referred to thereafter as "Kwai Chang Kitty" - essentially a wandering warrior/priest/monk type.

I had soooo much fun with that character that I ended up pulling him out of the Gamma World setting for which he'd originally been created, performing minor "tweaks" to the character and doing some hefty updates/re-writes/expansion of the backstories, etc... Turned out to be a fairly epic tale on its own, actually... and, in one form or another, Ch'dau (a.k.a. Dearon Cynj) has made appearances in numerous games, stories, and artwork over the years... I may have to dig him out of mothballs again, now that I think about it... might be fun.

Mead, stirred not shaken..

In our 2.0 game we have an NPC that can be plated as a PC. He's a Druid Ranger that also works for the White Mage, high level good guy.

The line is, "The name's Pond, James Pond of His Mageasties Secret Service."
He has a pair of Gauntlets of Randon Action. At the begining of the game we roll a d20 and then whenever that gets rolled during the game DM picks some kind of action, saluting, waving what ever. It can be a riot, especially if someone is handling the character as a PC.
