WWII Horror

I am thinking of starting a game again. Want to see if anyone would be interested. It is a WWII miltary game with some horror and spy thriller as well. This will be more based on the "Hollywood" world war films than reality, or perhaps the Wolfenstein video games. I am not looking for historical accuracy, I am looking for good story telling and good role playing.

The rule system will be the Cortex rules, which are the rules I use for my Serenity based games (Rocinante). Depending on the players, I may go for a simplified set of rules to make it easier.

So I would need at least five soldiers: a captain, a sarge, a corporal and two privates. There is also a role for a female who will appear later in the story.

It is 1943 and OSS picks up reliable intelligence that the Nazis are developing rocket fuel at a remote location near the swiss border. An old estate - Castle Rautenberg, is being used as the research facilty. Due to the remoteness of the castle, and it close vicinity to the swiss border, the allies can not risk a bombing run. So a team of 20 commandos are hand picked to be airdropped at night, make their way to the castle and destroy it.

But it doesn't go as planned. 30 minutes from the drop point, the plane is attacked by german fighters. Grabbing what gear they can, the few surviving commandos run to jump from the plane before it goes down. As the plane explodes upon impact, only 5 (or 6) members of the team are alive, and with limited supplies. But these are allied soldiers, and the mission must be carried out or else the nazis will be raining bombs on England and the USA.

They are 20 miles off course and have to hoof it fast because the crash will bring Nazi troops in a hurry.

We are so supportive!

Ohh... this does sound neat. I can't currently devote myself to joining. Silly seamonkey.

But I think other people should!!

((Side Note: I just recalled a t-shirt the girls dorm at my college sported one year. It read 'Our girls are well supported' and had a picture of a bra on it. It was amusing))

I'm interested too

I'll take on any role. Are the soldier-types all supposed to be male? (I sort of got that sense from the recruitment) If so, I'd be interested in the female role you mentioned. If not, I have a strong female captain character in mind, though I could play a private too. Whatever... I'm interested in playing. Let me know which role you'd prefer. Thanks!

So if youll have me, Corporal Tim Thomas is line in paragraph reporting for duty sit

hurm

Reep - A female captain just doesn't fit in the WWII world I'm picturing. It didn't happen either in history or hollywood. The female character I have in mind is a femme fatale Lady in Red type.

So I have a Sarge and two Corp. Anyone for a male Captain's role or the Private? The femme Fatale?

sigh.

It's okay

With your added insight, Alacrity, I think I will pass for the moment on this game.

Thanks,

Private

Lucky for you Tann'Talas asked me to play a private in this game so if you could PM some more details about the rules Alacrity, I would appreciate it cause I don't understand the details yet. That being said I have no trouble RP'ing and a wealth of family war stories to draw on so it should be interesting. I've already got a rough character in my head but I'll wait for more details before I flesh him out..

I was gone, but now I'm back!

and I really want to be in this game! I'll be sending you a PM shortly, I hope. Otherwise, nudge me if I forget. I have a lot of catching up to do on the site.

okay

So we have

Almerin - Captain (?)
Tann - Sarge
Yeolde - Corp
San-Siro - Corp
Dreen - Private

What I need is someone to play the Femme Fatale they meet up with shortly into the mission.

To get a idea of the Cortex rules, look to my "Looking for browncoats" thread in recuitment. That is a Serenity based sci-fi system but it is a start on the stats, the assets and complications and the skills. I will post more details later. Right now, get an idea of what character you want to play, how old, personality, what lead him to be on the mission, who's back home waiting for him, etc etc.

Well...

Couldn't find a "Looking for browncoats" thread.. glanced at the Serenity Q&A and the character thread though. I found a Serenity NPC Generator online and used that to rough out a character though. I'll PM you the draft of it and you can then just let me know what I need to edit etc.

I should warn you that I had family in the war and so I am fairly well versed on both history and on Marine Corp SOP.. My equipment list and background should prove extremely historically accurate

I hope I didn't go over board but it was kind of fun to make a character and equip him historically accurate.. I can honestly say he could easily have fought alongside my grandfather..
