Another Newbee
Hi everyone,
I'm a ad&d 2nd ed player, DM and world builder, I've been RPGing for 30+ years starting with the 1st ed set by TSR. i usually paper play rather than on-line but alas I've just moved and nobody here plays so it looks like i'm going to have to start! Apart from AD&D I've played Torg, Vampire, Cybernex and I've also played in Anne McCaffreys Pern, brainship and talent scenario's. I'm also willing to help other members if I can.

welcome!
Wow... your resume sounds like something you tailored just to fit in with our core of old timers, here.
Welcome to the Inn! Let's see...
I emjoy 2nd edition (hands down what I prefer to play)
I have DMed for years
I play online because I just can't seem to fit in tabletop time to my real life schedule
With considerable help from this community, I have created my own campaign world
I enjoy long walks on the beach, moonlight nights, and...
Ahem.
Welcome!

Welcome to the Inn
Let me be the third of the RDINN staff to welcome you to our site. As you already most likely have seen on the threads here there’s a lot to do here for sure so take your time and get comfortable with our site. There are a wide variety of AD&D rules sets in use here, even at one time a game run on the very first rules edition.. Basic .. So have no fear there is always something for everyone including Free Form games.
The Inn has been around quite some time and for a great majority of us is a second home so please treat the Inn, its Staff and all it’s members with respect and we will treat you the same.
So again welcome its always nice to have new people come to us and we hope you’ll feel at home. If you have any questions about the site feel free to PM myself or any other Staff member as needed.
Also my first act of helping a newbe is always to hand you a towel when I greet you so you can prepare for or wipe after Eol greets you with his famous, yet quite wet, facelick

Welcome to the inn!
Hey Attraidies, and welcome to the inn.
Yes, online gaming is very different from tabletop, but it satisfies the need for great roleplaying. And with the Inn you've found one of the most pleasant of sites on the net for this purpose.

Welcome!
Under seemingly similar circumstances I joined the Inn just a few weeks ago so let me take the chance to pass along the kindness shown to me! I can certainly guarantee you that you'll run into some very nice people here at the Inn! With such a large variety of games, run by friendly gamers, I am quite certain you'll find something that interests you very shortly! From past experience let me also say that whenever your in doubt, PM the DM! I've yet to message someone and not get a friendly and informative reply! So check out the recruitment board, have fun and don't be shy! I hope to see you in a game!

2nd ed
Your not wrong there, we are getting few and far between mind you they've most probably only known 3rd,3.5 and 4th eds, where as we had 2nd for so long its become 2nd nature to us, not wishing to offend any one but I just don't care for the D20 system granted I've never stuck hard and fast to the rule books any way yes i use them but more as guidance. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I remember correctly Gary Gygax him self once said they are only to be used as a guide and not as hard and fast rules which must be obeyed. But the 2nd ed system had soo much scope and adaptability to it, its a dream to play and build for, I know it can be a little confusing for new players at the beginning but they soon get used to it.

I still remember the red and blue basic sets. . .
Greetz, Attraidies!
Yep, you can tell a lot about a gamer if you show them a copy of "30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons" and see how many questions they ask. Feh! I remember when ya had to ink your dice yourself with grease pencils or crayons and the dice corners rounded off after a month, tops. "What's that ugly marble?" "Umm--my d20." I'm thankful for missing the times when we reached blindly into paper cups to pull out chits for rolls.
I see you know your way around a forum, so find a game or make one, check out our webcomics and vote for the Inn at the home page!
*tail wags gently* Here's some flowers and spiced mead, by way of welcome!
