Character Description/History:
Raised in northern lands, Bruno has lived a life where making a mistake will get you and everyone else killed. To this extent he tries his best to hold his temper when in the heat of combat.
However, this characteristic does not hold against the tides of words that people may frivolously toss at him. Bruno is a Halfling of short stature, even among his kind, and he does not take kindly to people reminding him of it. Because of this, he has started many a brawl in ye local tavern, and has been nicknamed “The Crimson Chin” for obvious reasons.
There are other situations where Bruno’s anger cannot be kept at bay, such as cruelty, enslavement, and over piousness. The Halfling will never stand aside for such performances, and though he may not always initiate combat over such performances, it is not uncommon for him to get his blood boiled to such an extent that he would ‘forget’ what happened.

His Halfling tribe was wiped out some months ago by a passing slave trader faction of gnolls, and Bruno shows a particular hatred for them. These gnolls had killed many, but some were taken as slaves to be sold; among them his wife whom is with child. Bruno is now in desperate search for this group, but is at a loss as to where they are going.

As a drive, Bruno may perhaps be rewarded not with gold, fame, or trinkets, but rather some information on where this faction is heading; or perhaps his employer may already have her, and so Bruno is returning the favor by willingly embarking on this adventure.

Physical Description: 5'10", 165, blonde hair, green eyes, tan, scar down right arm from shoulder to wrist

Personality: Stand offish around people until he gets to know them then opens up more readily. Helps those in need whenever people but swift to smite those that try to use him or others for their own gains.

Background: Orphaned at age 3 when Parents were mistakenly killed for breaking Laws that they did not break and was sent to the local Orphanage due to no family nearby. During his stay at the orphanage, he was taught that criminals should be marked for life, so several boys proceeded to cut him with a dagger, leaving a gash down his right arm from shoulder to wrist. A Cleric of Pelor passing by found him and immediately went to heal the wound. Patrick took the boys' words to heart and wanted the cleric to help him but let the wound heal slowly. He wanted to a reminder everyday of what he would be working towards. The Cleric was moved by this and did as he was asked. The cleric stopped the bleeding and bound the wound and helped him back to the orphanage. The cleric said he would not forget the boy and his words that night. At the age of 8, Patrick was summoned to the Church of Pelor by his Cleric Savior. Patrick did not hesistate to accept this invite as he was eager to use this as a means to attone for his parents' mistakes. He did everything as much as he could each day. Read as much as he was allowed time for, ate as much as he was given, did chores as much as possible until they were done, and played as much as possible when everything else was done for the day. He did that for 10 years until 10 years ago when he was first allowed to leave the church to lend help as requested. When asked to join the newly assembled group heading in search of the missing King, he'd take it as This would be his first chance to go out and prove his worth (and hopefully redeem his family's name).

Motivation/Ambition: Prove his worth as a battle medic, a good friend to those who need it and redeem his family's name.

Before I make any posts, could you tell me what the situation is on his loved ones that were captured? If he knows they are safe, then all is well.

You said we are close friends, yet I wrote to you that Crimson Chin is in a rather grim and passionate situation... if his family is not secured, then has he been promised information/assistnece in finding his beloved wife and child?

the best information youll find is in the hamlet of Leafhaven.

I assumed that the loss of your family was a rather recent event and that the governor wouldn't know about it yet. However you could mention it to him and he might have a small lead to get you started, but it is as I said before, Leafhaven. Jaspina may also be of some help, if she feels so inclined. She does, after all, have her own interests in this mission too.

So my suggestion is to role play your way to a solution to your story. I will be flexible and open to your characters goals.

now that i know the current situation, I shall get ate it "write" away =D

btw, i noticed that some weapons are more then just a +1. Does that mean I could have spent additional money on one item? I was confused as to whether we could spend 10% or 20% max on any one item, so i restricted myself to 10% just incase. If it is a 20% max, could you enhance my weapon for me? (I am at college, and I forgot my 3.5 books >.<)

+1 with an enhancement

Unless I'm mistaken (and I could be) a +1 weapon with a +1 equivalent enhancement like flaming is under the 10% max of 4,900gp. As I had noted on my heavy mace, the total cost was 4337gps. That is under the limit. So yes, if you went with a +1 with a +1 enhancement, you could have done more then just the +1. +2s of any kind were out of the range as they are 8,000gp. +1 bonus plus +1 enhancement not equal to +2 bonus unless, again, I missed something there lol.

As far as i can see above....

No one has spent more than 4900 gp on any one item. you might wanna try the following books to find good items at the prices they seem to be finding (so many source books I'd rather go on the honor system than look up all those items):

Magic item compendium
Arms and equipment guide
DMG I & II

Are we allowed to use both Magic item compendium and the Arms and equipment guide? If so I might have to change one of my selections if you will allow it, as I thought we were restricted to only the 4 books originally listed.
