Continually casting a spell
I'm not new to DnD but I can't think of a metamagic feat or and other feat that will allow me to continue casting a spell. For instance if I wanted to turn a fireball spell into something like a flamethrower and just concentrate on it each round. Or same with and other spell. Maybe Ice Storm or Lightning bolt. Anybody got any ideas?
Moved to Common Room, as Q&A Section is for game OOC questions only. Because we need to rename that. Yes we do.
Also, I have no idea about that kind of feat. Persistant Spell is the closest I can come up with, but you can't apply that to things like that.
There's something along the lines of lingering spell that makes it happen again next round, but that's not what you're looking for.
Good luck

Oh.
Thanks, lol. I went back to look for my thread and as I looked through the forum, I realized I had placed my thread in the wrong place.
(−_−;)
Yeah, I think I'm just gonna have to ask the dm to let me use a concentration check with an increasing dc each round.

Try writing your own...
If you can't find something that already exists try writing your own and then run it past your DM and see if they will allow it. He may make it so you need to justify gaining something new by doing a special quest or visit an old wise guy, lol.
Ooops, welcome to the Inn. Stop by the DragonChat Lounge for a big frosty mug of "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh".
Pop over to "Comings and Goings" and give yourself an intro.
BTW, free fluffy towels at the end of the bar. You'll find a use for it later, lol.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Thanks everyone.
Yeah, we are at lvl 20 because he wants us to start going into his epic campaign and I figure soon I'll just write my own spells anyway.
And I don't like the additional cost of metamagic feats, but it's something I'm gonna have to use eventually.

I'd probably make it a magic item
Rather than writing a metamagic feat that allows you to persistantly use any instantaneous, damaging spell (which, personally, I think has brokenness written all over it... kinda like persistant divine metamagic)... I would either write a feat, create an ability, or (and I think this would be the easiest) create a magic item that would allow you to continuously use one spell (it would like be an artifact item).
Or just go with the ring the doubles your spell slots of certain levels... you'll have so many spells, it will be like a continuous/ persistant spell.

More slot!
That's a good idea with the spell slot item. I think I'll do that.
