Wikipedia Scavenger Hunt
Ok here's the game. I will list a Wikipedia article. The next person to post will have to go to Wikipedia and click "Random Article" and from that point has 5 clicks to try and get to my article.
Post results so we can follow. You can then pick your own article for the next person. So for example, let's start with the article on Finland.
I will hit random article...
Tillandsia tortilis, apparently a species of plant in Mexico. Now I have 5 clicks to get back to Finland.
1. Mexico
2. Lebanese people
3. Canada
4. National Hockey League
5. FINLAND
Whew, barely made that one. In retrospect I could have gone straight from Mexico to the US to NHL but I thought Lebanon would get me to Europe faster. I was wrong and had to backtrack. Luckily I found Canada in the Lebanese people article.
Now as a winner I would be able to pick a new article for the next person.
Let's go with "Dragon" for the next example.
My random article is: Luigi Pieroni, apparently a Belgian soccer player. Should be easy enough, I'm already starting in Europe lol
1. Belgium
2. Germanic Language
3. Middle High German
4. Nibelungenlied
5. DRAGON
Again barely made it. Lucky I did my college thesis on Germanic linguistics and happened to have read the Nibelungenlied (The legend of Siegfried the Dragonslayer - you all should read it if you get a chance btw.)
So see, it's possible. Sometimes hard, but possible as long as the destination article isn't something completely isolated.
Now that you have the hang of it there are two rules:
1. No editing wikipedia to make a link to a word that wasn't there before you got to the article! That's cheating!
2. No choosing Adolf Hitler as the destination article, it's well known that every article on Wikipedia is (usually less than) 5 clicks from Hitler.
Remember you ARE allowed to read the destination article to do a bit of research, especially if you are stuck.
The biggest tip is to try to get to a country or major city. They are typically huge articles with tons of links.
I'll start with what should be an easy one:
Beef.
Remember to tell us your random article!
Edit: I just made it to Beef in 5 clicks starting from a random small villiage in Poland as my random article.

Good lord that was far too difficult than it should have been. Lucky the article gave so many "references in pop culture." I almost had something from Citizen Kane, but needed a 6th click to get it.
Lets try Caffine.

Nergal!?
Nergal? That's not going to be easy...
Well, Random Article threw me...
Gloriosa (genus)
A plant...ach...let's see what I can do, I suppose.
1. Zimbabwe
2. Africa
3. Judaism
4. Hebrew Bible
5. ? (FAIL)
1. Zimbabwe
2. Africa
3. Ancient Greece
4. Babylonia
5. ? (FAIL)
Okay...I tried twice from the same location, even getting to Babylonia in four steps, but I was unable to find any direct link or even mention of Nergal.
Ah well, seems I lose. I assume we have to pass, rather than try another Random Article? Good luck for the next person, as the Babylonian God "Nergal" still stands as the target.
