Hey Look it's Tann!!

To The Staff and Innmates of the Red Dragon Inn.

First let me express my deepest thanks to the Staff and the Innmates that participated in the sending of the module type get well card. Never in a million years did I expect that and the gesture was so right on, that when Kyle first presented it to me, it caused me to start crying uncontrolled for about 5 minutes. I have always thought of the Inn as a second home, a home that gave me a reason to live and a place to be me after my brain surgery, and this card, and the friendships clearly behind it, more then anything else has again proved it to me. So thank you, you are all in my heart forever.

Ok where do I begin about the last 25 days of my life, the beginning sounds about right I guess. As you all know, thanks to both Kyle and Keeper of Dragons, in the morning hours of May 27th I was hit by a series of 4 seizures. The first, and likely the most violent, threw me out of bed while I was asleep causing the complete destruction of a number of my shoulder bones, including both collar bones. The next seizure happened as my mother was responding to my call of assistance to the first one, the 3rd in the ambulance on the way to the ER and the 4th and last one in the ER itself.

As such I was heavily sedated till around Monday when they eased up on the meds after no further seizures had happened. My memories of Fri-Mon are hazy at best and are mostly other peoples recollections so no need to go into that, other then to say the first people I remember waking up to during those days were my Mother, Keeper of Dragons, his wife and his youngest daughter.

Well for the next few weeks it was waiting in a hospital bed for the bone Doc’s to have the time and paper approval from my Health Ins needed to fix my shoulder’s, that were so gone overall that it was decided to replace them with steel parts, cool huh, nope very, very painful. During this time I learned I was quite lucky as the seizures could have killed me, put me in a comma or left me mentally or permanently handicapped in some way. Well the Op was on Thurs May 9th and so far seems to be a success but yet again still quite painful. Then a week of in hospital recovery and I was finally discharged on Wed May 15th.

Well here is where this whole story of luck and hope goes at first very wrong as they discharged me almost without warning and without any home aid. They had been trying to get me admitted to the Reeves Rehabilitation Floor, with my full ok, but due to my ineligibility for the PT part of it they came to me weds morn and told me basically they were discharging me that day within the next 4 hours. No warning, no home aid, no PT aid, no Occupational Therapy aid, nothing, but 1 nurse’s visit the next day. My Mother, myself and our roommate Marc were shocked, sending a man with two recently rebuilt shoulders home with no one to help him learn to use them or how to work on making them stronger was unbelievable.

Well Marc got to the hospital, picked me up, and home we went to find that I had a visitor already waiting for me. It was Keeper of Dragons wife and his youngest daughter, Keeper himself on duty at the time on base in his RL role as a US Army Major. Having heard of the way I was sent home, she being an RN herself, had wanted to check me over to be sure I was ok. Low and behold I was already running a low grade fever. Now many of you might think a low grade fever was nothing to be worried about, but after major surgery it was indeed a cause for concern.

Well it was decided that a return to the ER the next morning to try to gain re-admittance to the hospital for treatment and better care then outside of it was in order. This time with Keeper’s wife driving and to assist in trying to gain me more help in my recovery process. To make a long day, short, where the first offer of aid to me was to send me to a half-way house with no trained medical staff, Keeper’s wife, using her skill and knowledge as an RN, and while I was clearly running the same fever I’d had the night before, was able to gain me 28 hours of Home Health care spaced over 7 days at 4 hours a day every other day. I gained both a visit from a PT person along with a visit from an OT tomorrow to determine how much help and for how long I would need it. So overall things look better in this Staff member’s life, however, the under lying cause for the seizures themselves has yet to be determined and is still an ongoing thing though I am now on medication to prevent them. So the road to recovery and a full return to the inn is in sight.

However the time frame of such a return is yet in question as it has taken the past 4 days just to write this short post. With a consistent lvl of pain between 3-7, my arms feeling heavier then cement blocks and being tired all the time it seems my full time return to DMing and as a player is open to debate, though I am better able to lurk at this time.

I see I have a number of PM’s to answer and promise to do so as soon as possible but please have patience as it may take me a few days to do so, but I will answer them.

Alacrity as you’re my only DM please NPC my characters for now but I will try to send you brief outlines of my actions as is possible as posting for them at this time is just too painful.

To my players in Trilogy please also be patient, Trilogy is in no way dead just on a brief Hiatus till I recover more fully.

To the Inn as a whole, thank you all for the card, your posts of encouragement, and the feeling of family you have shown me during this event, each and everyone of you will never be forgotten..................

Yay!

Tann,

Let me be the first of the staff folk to say, I'm glad you're back, at least to lurk! I am glad that you've also got some awesome friends close-by looking after and out for you! You are a blessed man for sure!

Here's to you, friend! To your health! To a quick and accurate diagnosis to what's going on! And to a full recovery and return to the inn.

I was just thinking of you over the last couple days as I was cracking up my Shadowrun book again. You come back full and I'll look to get that SR game up and running, with you getting first dibs! (It won't be until Sept at least, so no rushing, Dude...)

Peace,
Ayrn

O WOW

Wow, its seems like you have been busy since the last time I was on... I am keeping you in my thoughts for a rapid recovery and complete restoration of your physical ability (and who knows, you might just have superpowers now) I hope they find the cause of the seizures (and as a epileptic myself, its kinda important to know the cause) and that its nothing serious. Anyway, Cheers.

Welcome back!

Its wonderful to have you back Tann, even if its just lurking in the shadows watching our every move like the cheetah ready to chase at any given moment. I have missed you my friend, and hope that you continue to look out for yourself, this is a game, and it can be on hold for a full year if thats what it takes to get you healed. I`m very happy that your safe and I have been keeping you in my prayers Tann. You focus your energy on getting better, so that I can pick on you again

I missed you Tann.

Welcome back Tann. I'm glad to hear that you've thus far endured the trials before you. As I'm sure many of us here would say, if there is anything we can do to assist in your continued struggle and healing, by all means let us know.

Be well Tann.

Glad you're on the mend, Tann-mann!

I guess, since you're all gimped up and such, though, it means that the cold beers, hot steaks, and hooters girls are on me, huh?
