"Forgotten Realms: Edge of Darkness" Recruitment!
I'm wanting to DM a 3.5 game, 4-6 people who will be devoted to playing for a bit. It'll be based in Forgotten realms, 3.5 lore. it will be taking place in Tethyr, shortly after the nation as a whole settled itself and is now rebuilding from a civil war.
Character building will start you out at level 1, point buy with 32 points, use of the "complete" series is allowed plus all core handbooks, and PHB II. Roll for gold to buy gear as it suggests in the handbook, or take package. No psionics. I'll have more info as questions arise, and hopefully we can get another game started here in the inn!

YAY!
I don't have much time in the mornings so I can't think about any questions to ask or what character I want to be but I'm in. I've gone too long without a game.
EDIT: 1500 Posts!
OK, thought about it. I like skillful secondary fighters, so I'll probably play a rogue or a swashbuckler... something along those lines.

Sounds good! We'll need at least two or three more people to even consider starting, so we have time.

Some cheeky questions
A bit cheeky perhaps, considering that you've already defined the books we are going to use.
1) Can we use the Arms and Equipment Guide to outfit our characters? (I like the Dastana as you can wear it with most light armours, that it counts as a light armour despite it being in the shields section and that it gives you an extra +1 to AC for only 25 gold)
2) Do we get free cloths? (Free explorers/traveler's outfit?)
3) Does the Forgotten Realms Campaign Settings book count as a core book? (IE can we get the free equipment describer within if we fill the regional/racial/class requirements?)
EDIT: Meh! I have a lot of work to do. Hopefully today I've can get my work work done, and I've got this character chugging away in the back of my mind (thinking elf or human scout, secondary combat survival style person. Would wood elf be allowed?) and as well as those two things there is something else I want to do for a different game I play which means major cha-chin for my character in that game because it has is own in-game currency.

I would like a character as soon as you'd be able to hand one in, but no rush, we still need one or two more people to be able to even start playing.
Pizmo, I'd be happy to have you on board playing, the only thing is that I would need to make sure that you are not going to drop out at all and leave a gap in the party, and that your posting quality is good enough. If you want to see some good quality posts, just look through the current games going on. You don't need to be able to write a novel, But at least a few meaty paragraphs when we're roll playing, and when combat happens it'll be a bit less of a requirement.
Loki, to answer your questions it would have to be a case to case basis with the arms and equipment guide, as I do not own that book, but I can look it up with what your asking. Unfortunately looking stuff up about the dastana and it being a 3.0 book thats not in 3.5, I'm going to have to disallow the Dastana on multiple reasons, where in which if you would like to know, just shoot me a PM .
Also, I like the idea of you having to buy your clothing along with your equipment! *evil DM smile*
And, the FR campaign book is valid, but you don't get free equipment from there for regional areas and what-not. You will be able to purchase gear from there if you'd like. Remember, your all starting in Tethyr.
I hope that answers all your questions for now, and hopefully we can get two more people for a well rounded group!

If I may interject.
I happen to have the book on hand. Word for word:
Dastana: This pair of metal bracers can be worn
in addition to some other types of armor to provide
an additional armor bonus that stacks with both the
foundation armor and any shield worn. You can wear
dastana with padded, leather, or chain shirt armor.
You need the Armor Proficiency (light) feat to wear
dastana without penalty.
Cost: 25gp
Armour Value: +1 (stacks with armour and shields noted above)
Max Dex bonus: -
Armour check pentaly: -1
Arcane spell failure: 5%
Speed: -
Weight: 5lb

yer
At first level I am too short on gold to buy a Dastana anyway.
Got my character's mechanics prity much sorted out, just need to put up his/her description and bio now...
A thousand curses on you Jozan! Why you not let us have the cloths on our backs for free?
As a protest I might just make my charcter walk arround naked
EDIT: Epic fail. Three attempts at typing lol to get the smily

Er....another interjection?
Well. During the initial buy-in stage you still have clothes.
Last paragraph of the opening page for equipment (111 PH):
"Assume your character owns at least one outfit of normal
clothes. Pick any one of the following clothing outfits for free:
artisan’s outfit, entertainer’s outfit, explorer’s outfit, monk’s
outfit, peasant’s outfit, scholar’s outfit, or traveler’s outfit.
(See Clothing, page 131.)"

Edit note: Maybe I should draft up a character anyway, it seems I'm floating around here enough

heh, never read that! Thanks, so there you go your free clothes
And please feel free to write a character up and join in, i have a good idea going around for the campaign. I just want devoted people who won't leave half way through playing, and not people who'll love interest after the first two weeks. I'll try to update as frequently as I can when I can, and of course if anyone has any questions please ask!
Also, I'm curious as to character concepts. I know Loki's, a skilled secondary fighter type (I think) But others, I have no idea.

yes
I will be playing a moon elf scout, a skilled secondary fighter type.
Jozan, could you please clue us in to how our charcters are going to be meeting for this game and give us the adventure hook?
Thanks, it should help us/me devise a character that will fit in with your game.

Ok, so it's going to be a few months after Tethyr has finally ended its civil war with a new queen and king at the throne. Many border forts, villages, and outposts have been lost to battles long past, or just have been cut from funding to keep the army well paid. Now with the war over, it is time to once again reclaim the lost edges of Tethyr.
Your group will be one of many assigned to travel to the outskirts of the country and reclaim what has been lost to brigands, monsters, and time. Your characters will start in A medium sized city as either mercs, adventurers, or just someone who needs money and has the talent to do it. You can be together or apart at the start, it doesn't really matter right now.
Also, the year will be 1372, not the 4th edition current but the 3rd edition current time.

Whoot! No silly spellplague! What was the thinking behind that anyway?
/sarcasm
"I know, lets invent a minor armageddon that will totally change the face of the realm that players have loved and enjoyed for years and years!"
Go WOtC, you guys rule!
/end sarcasm
Yer, I'm thinking that my character will be a member of a disbanded scouting company, still very green due to not actually having seen any fighting in the civil war, who has spent the last few months in the city just trying to get by.

That sounds perfect Loki, remnants of the army will most certainly be all over the place, especially some would be cut loose since the royalty will not need as much money to fund their army any more, I like it! Now we just need three more characters >.<
and ya, damn that spell plague and all of 4th edition crazyness!

Well, I'm at a loss for a way to prove to you that I'm not going to drop out; the future is such a tenuous, malleable thing. So be it. I'll leave you to your cliques.
