I know your a guy, and I think the only reason that people think your a girl is the FAYTH part of your username...*shrugs* I have the same problem in my french chat room with CanadianFranco as my name...they think I`m a guy name Franco when franco is short form for francophone.
*huggles tightly* no worries hun.

Just making sure it's clear that everyone knows I'm a 13 year old girl. I know there's been some confusion in the past, probably due to my name and the vast, vast catalogue of comments describing my ability to consume whole forests and copious body hair, but I want to assure you I'm small delicate and pretty.

Always good to doublecheck
No worries, Chessic and Grugg, I knew, even if others got confused with their own presumptions in passing.
While we're at it, I doubt anyone has met this issue, but <== that over there is a manly unicorn.
Yes, of course there are such things. No, really. Totally for teh realz here. >.>

For the record you are not the only one who suffers from this. I am frequently mistaken for the opposite gender..
Also, to clear up any and all confusion, I am a female posing as a male who's pretending to be female but is really a non gender specific moogle.
Any questions?

I think flirty's got a point there regarding the username lending a little confusion here. I had the fortune to meet you early on in Chat so I for one was never in doubt. Having said that, please don't change it--I'd hate to see it later as "Korban, Lord Humungus of the Atomic Wastelands." Truthfully, I had Ion Kired totally pegged as a gal for the longest time until HE corrected me. I think it was the avatar more than anything. . .oh, and the tap-dancing.
In short, it's the Internet and people can't help making assumptions sometimes. Shrug it off, gently correct those who assume wrongly and move on.

funny
never had this problem. Not sure why.....
I find the best way to deal with this gender confusion internet is to ASK. It is a simple question and there really isn't a reason not to - you have no way of knowing.
Excuse me? Am I dealing with a man or woman? It doesn't change the way I will deal with you, I would just prefer to know whether to put he or she when referring to you in passing.
Of course, I have been known to be blunt in the past. Once or twice.

I can never seem to manage a 'short' post, darnit.
Ah, in all honesty, I knew you were male but I only realized it relatively recently, I'm afraid. I agree, it doesn't change how I view you, but it is more or less down to your username, I think.
I've had that problem all of the time, including on this site when I first joined...err...not all that long ago.
In my case, I've been told (on this site) that the assumption that I'm a female is/was because that my username ends in an 'a', giving it a feminine edge. I realized how often I'm mistaken for female on online games, too, once even mistaken for the girlfriend of a friend.
Don't be worried, though. I certainly wouldn't treat ya any differently regardless of gender.
By the way, thanks for this thread, since it means I can also point out that yes, I'm a guy, if it matters. Still, since I actually chose an Avatar I haven't had that problem.

For some reason, I've never been mistaken for male, even before I got the nickname of "Den Mother" and got my own avatar
But its true, in North America, at least, we generally attribute a female gender to names ending with an "a". Oh, and the more recent trend of changing the "y" at the end of a name to "ie" (Bobbie or Cathie) tends to imply femininity.
As long as we don't have a font that dots the "I" with a heart, confusion will remain!
