Why is it...
We are always the good guys going on quests to save the world...I think we need an rpg where there are two teams of players from the Inn, good vs bad. Have like 4 or 5 player teams, and have the evil players attacking the good or something. It's always the same thing good people on a quest to save the earth from evil...let's change things up a bit people!
I'm making a suggestion for a new game to be started, but refuse to dm the game until I have a better understanding of how to DM.

I like playing the bad guy
I always thought there should be more instances that you had the option to be evil. If I ever get brave enough to try my hand at DMing on here, I may run a "be the bad guys" game. Actually I sort of have an idea for it... it's not TECHNICALLY evil from their standpoint, but to everyone else it would be... hmmm....

well
just saying when both sides of the coin are ran by players going against each other it could complicate things, mayhaps an evil aligned game is order? but players killing each other could be a change of pace and very interesting

Please do...
I had an idea as well for a not so typical game. I had considered having two kingdoms which had to trade to survive, one had a surplus of one item, and the other had the surplus of the other item. They were forced to trade to survive, but one day a small army from one kingdom infiltrated the others kingdom and went through the streets killing or robbing or something and in the morning the kingdom that was attacked realizes what happened and a war starts or they go back and forth with creative ideas on how to win the "war"

why?
Because heroes are usually good guys, and most players like to be heroes most of the time. "Look at all those townspeople we killed! Mwuhuhuhuhahahahaa!"
Because bad guys tend to stab each other in the back, whichi leads to fights at the table and to hurt feelings.
I have played in an all evil game and had a blast with it.
I am running a Paranoia game right now; while it's not necessarily about being evil, players are encouraged to rat out their teammates for treason (real or imagined), which gets said teammates executed.
I would agree that variety is good... but my above posts have a lot to do with why this is often not the case.

You should write it up...
Even if you don't feel confident enough to run it just yet, you should write it up for when you do. You're a good player from what I've seen and if you really wanna give it a shot I'm sure it won't take you long to make that jump. I've read probably fifteen thousand guides and heard advice from an innload of DMs now and they all pretty much whisper the same advice... Hold your breath (cross your fingers, rub your lucky necklace, put on your Frilly Panties of Confidence +1, whatever it takes) and just do it. If you flounder about you can always climb out of the water and try again. People on here are understanding, I found that out yesterday.
And if everyone's having fun, no one is going to care about the mess ups.
and as for players killing each other off, it will probably take a very special group dynamic for it to work without ruffled feathers and whatnot. It would probably have to be a short campaign and kept fairly lighthearted for everyone to come out not against each other's throats.

Some of the most fun I've had...
...has been playing evil characters. Well, specifically, one evil character... Which reminds me... I need to wrangle out a sentance or three, yet...
Don'cha just hate when RL gets in the way of the important stuff?

and they call us monsters....
"How many times has your way of life been threatened by the so called heroes? How many nights do you tuck your children into bed wondering if a band of murdering adventures will come through and slay your whole village for the meager gold and supplies you may have? How often do you find yourself defending artifacts rightfully won in combat by your ancestors while these mercenaries slaughter the innocent and steal it away in the night? They call us savage, brutish, inferior... Their insults must be paid for in blood.... it is time we remind these charlatans that we are not their playthings... it is time we band together, my brothers and cousins... and stake our own claim... Let us prove it is not just these filthy humans that can build an empire upon the bloodied soil taken in conquest."
I may be onto a story idea here...

Wish I could...
I have tried twice to run a game but my knowledge of the rules are too minimal to accomplish it properly. I don't know what to roll when or how to run the game. I don't know how often to have them run into problems, or anything. I attempted to run A Prodigal Son, and The Safari Zone, but both times it stopped because i don't know what to do for battles, don't know what is considered to be acceptable. I have no maps, no rule books, nothing at all but experience from yahoo chat games. The only rules we had there was T1, T2 and T3...T3 was my fave it was more similar to these rp'ing styles. I have considered buying it, and learning tabletop games, but only know one person in toronto area who MIGHT be willing to play or teach me. I have a lot of things to learn before i can dm a game. Safari Zone was alright, had two eager players...I don't know how to do battles, or anything. Maybe when the fiance and I move in together he can help me run a game properly.

Just come up with the story first
and I'm sure people on here would be willing to tutor you in the ways of the rules and such. Heck I'm not experienced with many games but since I've done everything from sleep to eat with a 3.5 rulebook in my hands for the last week I'm beginning to get a feel for it now. I'd be glad to help you... though that's like the blind leading the blind.

Thanks...
I will one day have the extra money to get myself some rulebooks and my own set of dice and such, but as of right now, cannot afford them. I have too much on my plate to even learn right now unfortunately. I am working full time, plus helping with renovations at home, and trying to get myself back to studying full time. In addition to being pregnant so trying to not overload myself too much. I am hoping to find some people who might be willing to get together in my area to teach me how to play tabletop. Only ever played tabletop rpg once, and feel I'm missing out since didn't get much time.

You can get...
lots of references and such for free. Heck some people have the books on their computer or even ipad/iphone in pdf format.
edit: Also have you checked out the links here on the Inn? There are some useful links that lead to downloads and guides for rules.

*nods*
Yeah I have, but I dislike having too many windows open at once, going to find one on ebay or something and if they are a decent deal buy myself a rule book.

I bought mine...
In the fifth grade. XD It's in BAAAAD shape. I have pdf copies of the monster manuals but I have the hardback of the DM and player's guides.
I found the DM guide for as little as 15$ on Amazon, you may be able to find it cheaper on ebay. I know saving up money for hobbies is hard though.
