RPG Pet Peeves
Is there something you can't stand? A backstory that is SOOOO overused? A level build you just can't stand? Well, let it all out here!
Personally, my biggest role playing no-no is ye olde emo character. Doesn't bother me TOO much, but overly-tortured pasts are just a little bit of a turnoff.

Ugh..
"My parents were murdered and I was taken in by a *insert passing, wandering, local* *insert class here* and they raised me as their own. Then they were murdered horribly by *most hated enemy* and that's why I'm an adventurer."
I've heard it waaay too many times.
Also blatantly ripping off a character already in existence and denying it despite only MINOR changes on the player's part. I don't care that your dark elf renegade with purple eyes uses twin rapiers instead of scimitars, I recognize that character.

Hah!
Hah, yeah! Also, people who can't decide how they wanna play their character. Okay, you can be a moody loner or an altruistic saint, just PICK ONE.

i know
there isnt much i dont like about the games i have played apart form above comments i think the only thing i dont like is the lack of players in my area lol and on the opposite end of the spectrum characters who like to keep there background so vague i once played with someone (who at the time i thought was working with the dm to put his background into the story the only time vague background is good)who just either didnt think about a background or wasnt confident enough to say what they had on there mind so yeah ramble over

Yeah. >.>
Normally I'm up for people being creative but I had a player want to play a bi-polar transgendered Druid which I just didn't even know what to say to. How do you respond to that? I have no trouble with any of those things on their own, but combined it was just too much.

go for it
i love creativity i would have so much fun playing a character like that so if anyone asked me if they could play it i would just say yeah its obscure and cool and if you can pull it off well enough it will just add an extra flavor to the game
and i dont like people forgetting the rota(who brings what when and where) and turning up at mine when its supposed to be at there's than night

Maybe...
if it hadn't been her first time playing. *shakes head*
I love to see people playing creative characters, but I would like for them to have a basic grasp of the rules of the game first.
Which leads me to people not researching their stuff. If you want to play a character that is a sailor... you should study up on the parts of a ship or if you want to play a blacksmith you should know the difference between a great sword and a longsword.

It is also essential in playing...
characters who are quite unique to the world. For example, a halfing, where all halfing either are or were necromancers, recieved a curse and now see all being as living , rotting, corpses who can walk around as if they were not. As well their eyes flare green if their emotions run high. The night reign campaign, I should remind that guy about it, wait working too much. Mind you it does not help if your character is being himself and the GM is not listening.
Funny story about that character, me and the other guy were picking a lock to get into the other party members room at the inn, I failed, he didn't. He got a lantern in the face when it was opened. Took a while for the cleric in the inn to take all the glass in his face out, 20(maybe) gold later.
About the overused background, the next character i played(cause this one was so stinkin' annoying), his entire village was destroyed by tiefling and his mother killed in front of him. He was not overcome by revenge but rather a desire to rebuild his village as he could not raise all the people of his village. Escaping he got the skin of his right arm burned off and later replaced by a type od flexible plastic.

overpowered
My pet peeve is the "my character has five '18' stats and he carries a +4 sword, elvin plate and a +3 shield. Oh and he is a 1st level."
