Avengers Discussion (Spoilers!)

So with two threads dedicated to spoiler free talking points, let's open it up to those of us who saw it already.

What did you *really* think about the movie?

LAST WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I thought it was amazing, actually. I was happy to pay theatre price and might even go again. As much as I thought Stark would steal the show, I thought Hulk actually was the breakout star. Sort of the Dr. Manhatten of the Avengers.

Cap had a few good moments: blocking Thor's hammer, giving orders to the police, and then at the end when everyone just sort of looks to him for tactics. Hulk... smash.

Thor seemed a bit out of place, which I suppose was on purpose. It just appeared like he should have been the deus ex machina of the team rather than the Hulk. In one scene Thor is going toe to toe with Stark in a stalemate, but in probably the most hilarious scene of the movie he gets sucker punched by the Hulk.

Hawkeye I thought was too forced. I didn't think he added much to the movie and could have easily been left out. Everything he contributed with the exception of getting ensnared by Loki could have been accomplished by someone else.

Black Widow was gorgeous as expected and I really like how they gave her important roles and jobs that unlike Hawkeye could not have been accomplished by anyone else. She came off as being a "superhero" while still being the weakest and most "human" of the group.

And let's be honest: Stark really did steal the show, as expected.

Overall I thought the movie could have easily been another hour long and I wouldn't have noticed.

Also, the stingers at the end were amazing.

Thoughts?

Totally Wicked

I saw it on Monday and i loved the movie. Very well done in that it was funny in places, serious in others and told a story just like reading a comic. I will defeinitely be seeing it again and buying the Blu-ray.

Did anyone get the after-credit clip? Who was the villian? Is that Thanos?

ahhh

Ok then. Cause for a moment I thought it was Darkseid and that would be a DC villian.

Thanos

I recognized Thanos by two things, one was his smile and the other was the reference the guy talking to him said about 'courting death' Thanos always had a thing about Death and courting it was appropriate.

I wonder now if they will do the 'Infinity Gauntlet' at some point.

As for the Avengers, I loved it. The Hulk vs. Loki scene was the funniest in the movie.

Thor 2

It is possible, I did see the Gauntlet in Odin's vault in Thor, but that picture isnt from the movie.

Since Loki was involved with Thanos in a way through the Chitauri, it is possible that Thor 2 would focus around Thanos trying to obtain the Infinity Gauntlet.

Of course this is all speculation, which is what the Marvel people want when they put in end-credit teasers like that.

Definitely Thanos

Saw it for the second time this week and it is for sure the Mad Titan himself. Had a very funny moment this showing as when Tony kissed Pepper a small girl in the audiance loudly said "ewooo". Everyone laughed.....
Sometimes it pays to see a movie more then once

Also did anyone like the second after credts scene at the total end of the credits with them all sitting around the table eating, not saying a word. as Iron Man had suggested at Swarmies I think he called the place?

After after credit scene

Yes I saw the 2nd after credit scene. Actually it is Shawarma that Tony said, that is a type of food, middle-eastern actually. It is basically marinated chicken that is skewed, cooked and served with rice, pitas or other dishes. It is quite good.

The Shawarma scene in the movie was Robert Downey Jr’s idea, he didn’t want to just say ‘What’s Next?” or something like that and came up with the Shawarma bit. They added it in and then later decided to film the end scene to close it out. That scene was actually done after the LA Premiere in April. They had all the cast together so they put them in costume and filmed that at a local restaurant in LA. Chris Evans had a beard and shorter hair so they had to use makeup and he kind of hid his face alittle with his arm as he ate to disguise it.

It was funny especially without dialogue.

Schwarma ...

..... is either a choice of chicken or beef and is worth eating if you ever have the chance!

I first thought that the alien in the credits was the Skrulls, but later realized that it was indeed Thanos!

Best Movie!

just to verify

Just to verify, people. You guys over there don't know what Shawarma is? It's common food here (though we call it Shoarma), so I didn't really understand why Iron Man would say it's new and he never had it.

It's really good, btw.

not really

Shoarma and Döner Kebab are two separate things, both really good.
