I've been lurking for a while now, hoping that the game I was in will pick back up, doesn't seem that it is though.
At this point I feel the need to go ahead and plan something new to occupy my time and give my creativity a chance to flow.
My brother, who isn't even a table-top gamer, brought to my attention a fan-made ruleset to add Final Fantasy flavor and fun to a D&D3.5 or Pathfinder game, something that immediately got my attention. "You mean I can combine my love of dice and Final Fantasy games?! I'm in!!" The rules can be found
here. I will be using PF as the core, just so that's clear, that means feats, skills, etc will be based off PF pre-reqs and skill rank limitations etc.
As is standard with Final Fantasy games I am willing to take on multiple players with many different character concepts. And like a FF game PCs will drop and return at a whim, allowing us to move forward fairly easily if the dreaded RL Beast snatches a player or 2. I would prefer that for classes we stick with the class options provided in the FF20 rules, unless previously discussed and agreed on. I am going to be more flexible with race selection though as any FF fan will know there is no set races or limits in the FF Universe. One particular game may feature 95% humans where another game features a slew of oddball races that sometimes look like a 5 year old drew the concept art before it was refined and made into something clean by a pro. I still maintain the right to approve or deny any particular race, class, or concept at my discretion.
I don't want to give too much about the story away at this point, because like many FF games this will be highly focused on story and character development. If you'd be interested and willing to try to make this game epic as can be then let me know. I'm thinking starting level of 4, no multi-classing (I have something else planned that I'll get into if I get enough interest).
I'm a firm believer that every PC should start at the same basic ability level, so I prefer to roll the stats for my games, that way one person doesn't end up with 3 18s and another person gets no higher than 15. For this game scores will be 12, 16, 14, 14, 13, 17 before racial modifiers, and in true FF fashion I will be doing away with carrying limits for this game.. you will still need a pack and all that fun stuff though. Starting funds have been set at 800 gil, and each character will be assigned a specific Trait determined by myself based on their backstory with it's own perks and drawbacks.
