Chaos Incarnate

The day had started like any other, rising bright and early to meet with Alru at the local tavern to check the job board for new work in order to garner the guild fame and funds. When you arrive you find Alru at a corner table being Alru, flirting with one of the barmaid, his goggles rested atop his brow accenting his sandy blonde hair. Noticing your arrival he briefly pulls his attention away from the barmaid, motions you to join him, and gives the barmaid a sly wink, "Sorry Doll, business calls, I'll catch up with you later."

Once everyone is seated and has ordered their breakfast Alru motions to the job board, which as you can plainly see is close to bare. "Slim pickings today fellas, only 2 jobs posted up there, and one has already been claimed by those damned Blue Wind fools. I swear they always seem to get to the best paying jobs before we can get in here."

Pausing briefly to take another bite of his biscuits and gravy he looks again to the board, "I went ahead and claimed the remaining job for us, we need any work we can get at this point. It doesn't pay well, but it seems simple enough. Apparently the local fauna has started acting strangely, though the poster doesn't go into detail as how exactly they are acting strangely, and several locals have pooled together their meager wages to hire someone to investigate and see if the cause can be determined." He pauses briefly, his gaze locked somewhere in the distance, if you follow his gaze you notice that the barmaid he was flirting with has bent over to pick up something and his gaze is locked on her hind quarters.

It is Kal'ar who finally pulls his attention back to the matter at hand by slamming his tankard back on the table after taking a long drink. Shaking his head the Al Bhed turns back to the group, "So all you have to do is head north beyond the Keep and see if you can determine what is causing the wildlife to act strangely; any questions?"

((Feel free to RP your arrival, breakfast order, or even your morning routine and the trek to the tavern as you see fit. I know I haven't got much to work with here, but hopefully once we manage to get things moving we can get a nice pace and get the action really started.))

A New Day

Nia awoke early this morning, not unusual for her to do so. It was normal to get up this early if you wanted to have enough time to prepare your outfit for the day and still get to the inn and meet Alru without being late. Springing out of bed, Nia hummed to herself as she started sorting through her dresser for what clothes she'd wear today. After at least 30 minutes, she finally decided on knee length beige shorts, coupled with 4 belts to hold all her weapons and any small gear, and to match it, a short sleeved white shirt and beige vest. She then grabbed her leather armor and started strapping it on. "Can't ever leave unprepared." she muttered to herself.

Finally done with her chore of getting dressed, Nia grabbed her weapons and slid them into the various sheathes on her belts. Taking a double check in the mirror to make sure she was presentable, but still mobile enough to fight, she nodded and skipped out of her dorm and down the hall. Stopping at Kal'Ar's room, as well as Nefrelle's, and made sure to knock on their doors until they awoke. Before allowing them to say anything to her in their tired states she'd chirp "I'll meet you outside the inn~! Don't be late!"
On her walk to the Inn, Nia made a double check all her weapons were in easy to grab positions. After moving one of the daggers around she hummed in approval. Nia normally enjoyed her walks to the Inn, they were rarely ruined except for the occasional cat-call towards her. Thankfully, this was a good morning and not many others were awake yet. "Least I won't have to make a fool of anyone today..."
She smirked as she thought back to the countless times she'd cut the belts off of those men's pants, stolen their coin purses, and even scared them with a dagger planted at near their throat. She enjoyed scaring or making a fool out of anyone who irked her. Stifling a yawn, Nia stretched and leaned up against the side of the Inn to wait for her two friends to catch up.

Wakeup call

The morning had greeted Nefrelle with a playful beam of sunlight which hovered upon her face and bedsheets, as if softly rousing her from her gentle slumber. She rolled over and lifted herself from her pillow, yawning and sweeping her thin white hair out of her eyes. Smiling, the Nu Mou looked out the window into the sun. How she loved the mornings here. They were always filled with such splendid beauty, with the birds singing and the grass lush and green.

At length, a knocking sounded upon her door: the group's young thief, a Hume called Nia, was waking up her friends, calling them to breakfast before it was too late. That girl, she thought with a grin. Always on the move.

Nefrelle hopped off her little bed, tied back her hair, and gathered her attire. She wore a scholar's outfit underneath a robe of silk, with some parchment, pens, and ink pots hidden the robe's pockets. Everything else was stuffed in her multi-purpose backpack, and her quarterstaff was slung across her back with a strap. That was everything; now, it was time to enjoy the day, and she had a hankering for some bread and butter for her breakfast. Long ears brushing against the floor, the White Mage left the room to join Nia and the others.

Kal'Ar's eyes slowly opened as he felt a pounding in his head, drawing him out of his dreams of battle and victory, of the crowds cheering and whistling.....
The pounding was still there as he awoke, but only briefly before he heard the muffled voice of Nia outside his door. He missed what she said, but he doubted it was anything important, or she would have opened the door.

Slowly sitting up, tossing the blanket down the bed, he rubbed his eyes, shook his head and growled. He hated early mornings. Rising even slower, he steps into his crimson-dyed leather leggings, then his combat gloves, which he tended to wear everywhere. That done, he stretched a final time, and opened his door, starting his walk to the Tavern.

After several autographs, pictures, and hand shakes, all of which he had still never fully grown comfortable with, he finally arrived at his destination, spotting Nia immediately, leaned on the wall. Approaching, he bowed low in a jokingly sarcastic manner.

"Ah, I see our master Burglar is ahead of us again."

Rising with a grin, he asks, "So, I trust you slept well?"

Always first

"Ah, I see our master Burglar is ahead of us again."
"So, I trust you slept well?"

Nia grinned and curtsied towards Kal'Ar. "Of course I'm ahead of you two, someone needs to know what's going on~ And how many times do I need to tell you I'm not a burglar, I'm a treasure hunter!" Dropping into a sarcastic tone, she leaned back against the wall once more. "And I could have slept better if I didn't hear your constant snoring all night." Staring straight faced at Kal'Ar, she finally brok and giggled to herself before stretching her arms towards the morning sun beating down on the her and her friend.

Thinking for a moment, she looked over to the Ronso. "Think we'll get any good jobs today?"

well

Kal'Ar shrugged with a growl. "Impossible to know for sure. But I do hope so. Every day that I am in this town, more and more of these fiends recognize me." He grumbles, smirking.
"Still, no point speculating. Come, I'll buy you a drink. I know I could use one to get me going this morning." He adds, moving towards the door with an inviting gesture.
However, he pauses, looking around. "I assume Nefrelle is on her way.... But luckily, I am easy to spot." He growls with a wink.

Free drinks?

"Well if you're paying, then let's head inside. I expect something to eat as well~!" Nia giggled as she stood up from leaning on the wall and stretched once more before heading to the door of the Inn.

"I assume Nefrelle is on her way.... But luckily, I am easy to spot."
Once more Nia laughed at her friend before looking up to him. "I sure hope so, otherwise we'd have a stray cat to find." With a wink Nia slips into the inn before Kal'Ar could glare at her.

Dear me, I'm a bit late...

Indeed, just as the others had predicted, Nefrelle came shuffling into the inn not too long after they'd taken their seats, still slightly dazed from having just arisen. With a cheery nod, she waves to the man at the counter; his name had escaped her right then.

Sauntering up to the table at which her companions awaited her company, she greeted them with a smile, "Good morning, children, I hope you slept well. Isn't it beautiful out there?" Looking up at Kal'Ar, who towered over herself, she said, "You look like you're ready to get going; I must admit I am too. Perhaps, perhaps they will have a job or two for us today." She grins kindly, meaning well by the gesture.

The nu mou climbed up onto her seat, setting her backpack and quarterstaff to the side, and was more than ready to have a bite to eat.

The Start

Kal'Ar chuckles as the bubbly little thief scurried ahead of him into the building, and follows, ignoring the usual glances of recognition and awe that were always present when he arrived anywhere. His gaze locked on Alru almost immediately, but he decided to ignore the Al Bhed until he had recieved a drink.
Signalling for a passing waitress, he orders a Tankard of whatever was being sold the most today, then waited for Nia to place her order before dropping a handful of Gil on the woman's tray.
"Keep the change, eh?" he growls, and goes to say something to his small companion when he noticed the small Nu Mou approach with a smile, and returns it with a nod.

"Good morning, children, I hope you slept well. Isn't it beautiful out there?" Nefrelle greeted, turning to look at Kal'Ar. "You look like you're ready to get going; I must admit I am too. Perhaps, perhaps they will have a job or two for us today."

The Ronso nodded in agreement. "Aye, that little Al Bhed man had better have something. I only have so much Gil left, you know." He chuckles and continues, "But now that you are here, we can go find out, rather then speculate..."

Order up!

Nia waited patiently as Kal'Ar placed his order before asking for her usual, bread and a mug of cider. As she attacked the small meal she only stopped to look up and wave to Nefrelle as she entered the inn.

Content with eating her meal, Nia didn't hear much of the conversation between the Nu-Mou and Ronso until she heard "But now that you are here, we can go find out, rather then speculate..." Looking up to the others with a mouthful of bread she managed to get out "Check, jobs..." before grabbing for her mug of cider and downing it in one go.

With a happy sigh and pat on her stomach, Nia stood up and walked over to Alru at his table.

Kal'Ar sighs. He had hoped for more. But, he supposed work was work. He had no questions. Sounded simple enough. He stands, and finishes his drink while he waits for the others to ask something, his own hand checking his pouch, sighing at the low number of Gil inside. It would be an interesting trip, anyways.....

Awakening of Aragon

Upon the touches of the first light of day Aragon of Avalon (dragonborne) raises his head and exits the meditative sleep he enjoyed. He readied his spells, and began to hum a tune which was handed down from his mother, and as he hummed the staff in the corner of the room erupts with a bluish tinted light which issues a sudden chill in the room. Aragon splashes ice water upon his face and wakens more. Donning his white robe and cloak he heads downstairs to await his companions.

Strange fauna, you say?

"So all you have to do is head north beyond the Keep and see if you can determine what is causing the wildlife to act strangely; any questions?"

Nefrelle thought about this, as she took another bite of her toast and strawberry jam. Isn't that strange... wildlife doesn't just start acting up so suddenly. She began to consider the options: it was unlikely for the trouble to be stirred by a group of rabble-rousing beastmasters, though that wasn't all that unlikely. However, by the sound of it, something else seemed to have been going on. If it was indeed beastmasters, or other troublemakers alike, they'd have been discovered and chased away.

"Have the townsfolk mentioned anything about magic, or the use of arcane arts to stir up these creatures they have?" She asked. If it was magic, then this had the potential to become very interesting...

Ground Floor... Magic;Stockings, and Such

Upon reaching the bar area(I like to meditate using the famous rope trick)... I very intently start listening to other folk to get the latest gossip about the goings on in the area.
If I gain too much attention to myself I start telling stories of dragons and their glory... educating and enlightening whenever possible

nope...

Alru shakes his head at the question, "No, no mention of magic in the posting, nor any indication of what strange behavior it is they are wanting investigated. Not much to work on, but work is work and we need the gil and the attention. If we pull this off then perhaps the posters may recommend us for other jobs and we can get a better cash flow going.." Taking a drink from his mug he sets the now empty cup back upon the table and slides his chair away from the table. "If you need me, or think of any other questions you'd like to ask before heading out then I'll be at my workshop." With that he excuses himself from the table and heads out the door, winking at the waitress he had been flirting with earlier as he pushed the door open and headed out into the street alone.
