in first ed [A D&D] thievs got 1 xp/ gp 'liberated 'from the dungeon, plus 1 xp per trap found disabled and/ or set and 1 xp/ lock.
if the trap or lock was more difficult then average, it was worth more xp.
At least that was the way we played back in the '80s.
in 2nd ed, it was pretty much the same.
But 3.5 and pathfinder the trap has a cr based on the dc that has a value of xp
