Slate Recruitment

Nobody knows what caused the world to die, or why the gods let it happen those many decades ago. The ground is barren. The seas have vanished. At least that's what the grandfathers say. Hot rain pours down every night. Bolts of green lightning light up the darkness and shatter blasted rock while twisted things crawl on too many legs to hunt for food that is, all too often, somebody's mother.

What few small groups still survive do not thrive - every year there seem to be fewer than the year before, and every year the light seems to be a little dimmer. The whisper on the lips of the bold is thus: Can a world beyond hope be saved? Is there one more legend yet to be written?

I'm looking for four to six creative players to rebuild this world with me, or maybe just give it one last hurrah. It's a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting, and as I'm building a harsh world it is reasonable to expect real challenges that require more than brute force to overcome.

Please build a character with the following considerations:
  • Character Level Four
  • 28 point-buy system.
  • 5000 GP budget. No single item may cost more than 1,250 GP. (I'm going to re-skin the money, but for now GP is GP)
  • I will allow any race, but in game they are going to be skinned as more-or-less human.
  • All official 3.5 books are allowed. If you have an idea but don't know how to do it, please ask!
  • This world has scarcity problems. As such I will be tracking ammunition and spell reagents.

    Sweet

Sounds like fun, but would need guidelines to create characters.

    I'm interested

I have absolutely no experience with 3.5 E though, I run 5E. If you don't have another player I'd be happy to fill in the spot but I'd rather give the spot to someone more comfortable with 3.5E

Hey Impulse - I'd be happy to have you, and if you decide to join up there are a lot of free resources for 3.5 available online.

Oh, and welcome to the Inn!

    Oooh!

    This sounds dank and twisted!
I'd like to jump in too! What sort of a timeline are we looking at for getting things to you?

Nimu, Chessic, Flirt, & Silent... Wow, it looks like we have enough players to get started! I'll hold the door for two more spots, so lets say character sheets in five days or less if possible. I'll plan to post the game topic in one week, and I'll post the discussion topic ASAP.

Impulse, there's still a spot for you.

    Count me in

I'm in on a new game if I can claim one of those last two slots.

    :)

    Thanks for the welcome!

And sure I'd be down to play, I'll have to do loads of research cause people say that 3.5 is vastly different from 5E

    Re-skinned as human?

So this part has me thrown a bit. We can be any race but will be of human appearance. What does that mean? Just trying to think how to build that into the character concept. Have a few plots in mind...

Think of the racial templates as variations in humanity that aren't entirely genetic. Imagine for instance a football player with a hippie brother who likes to play guitar. You might give the footballer a human or dwarf template, while the brother might be an elf or even a gnome type.
