Any Interest? 5e Homebrew world, dark and creepy adventures await!
Hello!
I was wondering, does anyone have an interest in playing in a 5e adventure, set in my homebrew world, with dark/horror themes? I'm looking for 4 players, descriptive and detailed posts 1x week, using only PHB races/classes. Please, no Evil alignments unless you can convince me it could work in a party of heroes. Let's work together on your backstory, since the world we'll be playing in is large and some races are only found in certain areas.
Please note, casters in this world are required to register with a specific organization, but there are unregistered caster running loose - but most are in hiding. Do not let this stop you from choosing a caster!
I'm hoping for an April 1st start, and there would be a Q&A section for all the world lore you'd need, including maps, common knoweledge, and a record of side quests and major notes, etc.
Interested?
Additional Info:
- Characters all start at Level 1.
- XP leveling
- Bonus XP awarded for excellent posts, RP, uncovering secrets, etc.
- PHB races/classes only
In the once tiny hamlet of Ghostwood, now a thriving city at the base of the Gravespeaks, the number of missing rises with each passing season. What's really happening in Ghostwood?

Hey Lady Dark!
Thanks for your willingness to start up another game here at the inn!
What's the starting level for your game? And are you able to give a little teaser for this adventure you're looking to send your PCs on?
Thanks!
Ayrn

Heya Lady Dark
I'd certainly in be interested in playing a character. I would love to play some Xanathar's guide to everything classes but PHB works for me! Sounds like the world you're running would be cool. I'm excited to hear more about it

Levels
As far as levels go, my preference would be for level 3, 4 or 6.

In my experience, Level 3 is good because you're just starting to realize your class features, typically get your subclass archetype feature then which is nice. Level 5 is good because theres' a big power spike for martial classes and spell casters. Martials get second attack and spell casters get third level spells.
I'm comfortable playing at whatever level you want, though levels 1 and 2 are a bit nerve racking due to the fragileness of player characters

Heyo. Sounds promising, but I've never so much as seen the 5e books. I've no idea how to build/play a character there.
Hope your game goes well.

I've never played 5e, myself...
...but that doesn't keep me from being interested.
If you need a fourth to round out the party and don't mind giving a geezer a hand with character creation, I'll happily join up.

I'm not the GM but I'd be happy to help out with char creation at least. I got started with TTRPG games with 5e and I think it's the most friendliest towards new players.
If anyone also needs the resources for it, you can PM me and ill point you towards the right direction to find some

Always interested
I tend to join lots of games because they are all interesting!
If you have 4 others I can easily sit this one out, but I'm also more than willing to dive in. Although we don't know much about what we would be getting into.
I have some experience with 5e although I am far from an expert. Technically I'm running a 5E tabletop game, but when your the GM you can always just fudge it, right?

update
I've edited the first post to include a little more info but will also post it here
Additional Info:
- Characters all start at Level 1.
- XP leveling
- Bonus XP awarded for excellent posts, RP, uncovering secrets, etc.
- PHB races/classes only

Don't have XGE yet, I'm sorry to say. And I'm totally stoked to see interest In the past I've run free-form games here, so this will be my first rules-based game. Hopefully it will turn out to be great fun for everyone as I flail my way along . Over the next few days I am going to set up the Q&A to infodump world and general info and maps and whatnots. I'm happy to help set up sheets, or Impulse can help as offered. And generally I am only able to log in late in the EST evenings.
Hope the added info hasn't put anyone off the idea of joining.

I'm perfectly fine with starting at level 1.
I have a few char concepts that I could do, as a GM, you always have a ton of char concepts but you never get the opportunity to play them
Concerning XGE, not a problem, I can easily make use of PHB stuff Though I do have to ask... PHB spells as well? So nothing from Elemental evil for instance.
I wouldn't classify myself an expert but I do have a lot of experience so I'd be happy to help out with char sheets. Just shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to go through everything.

Level 1 works!
Always a good place to start when learning a new/updated system, I think!
That said (and after doing a tiny bit of reading on 5e) does anyone have any suggestions on how I might start if, at some point, I'd like to see my character become a battle mage of sorts? More of a fighter type but, for whatever reason, discovers a knack for magic that he'll eventually work into his fighting style? Even more importantly, Lady D, would such a character even fit into this world of yours?

Battle Mage
It absolutely fits. And there's a lot of ways to make something like that happen. I'll jump in your PMs with some ideas and resources for ya
And Impulse, EE is fine for spells.

Sweet!
I'm not usually one for magic users, myself, but figured I'd try a little step outside my comfort zone on this one. looking forward to the info!

Sounds good! I can build a char once the lore starts coming in. I can fill whatever role you guys need me To as well
Concerning martial class with magic abilities, i would recommend taking a look at fighter, subclass eldritch knight.
Either that or warlocks.
Eks focus more on martial prowess, warlocks focus more on magical abilities
