Star Trek: Draconis Fleet
Yeah, okay. This isn't an oficial recruitment thread, per se. But with the renewed interest in Star Trek here at the Inn, and with the launch of a second, affiliated sim... I've been playing with this idea in my mind for a bit.
I would love to see the Inn become home to a collection of Star Trek games with some organization to them. Roughly the same time period, definitely in the same "reality".
You see this in places like Star Trek: Freedom, where all they do are Trek games. I don't see us ever going that far (after all, the Inn's roots are in D&D and fantasy), but would it not be cool to drop in to the Trek Tools and see a nice roster of active ships? It wouldn't take much effort for me to beef the Trek Tools up, make them a little easier to use, add some features, etc.
Of course, we don't really have any GMs willing to run Trek games at the moment... let alone the players to fill them out. But it's a cool idea.
And yeah, the fleet just names itself, doesn't it? You could go with the canon nomnclature of "11th fleet" or whatever, but the common name almost HAS to be Draconis Fleet, doesn't it?

It would be cool. Very, as a matter-of-fact. If it helps, I have a ton of Star Trek rulebooks in PDF version.

Sounds good
I like the idea a lot. I'm all in on lots of Trek games. I will probably run another freeform game at some point, after I get my "space legs" back playing in this next one.

Let's do it
I'm in. One question, if there are crossovers between games, how do you manage time? If one game moves very quickly, while another is slower and a galactic event takes place, does the slower game just happen upon it at a later date when it's appropriate in game?

Yes. Fleets are really just a cooprative thing. They aren't meant to be multiple simultaneous threads.
One game might be set in early 2365, another in late 2364, another in mid 2365, etc. As long as any truly major events that impact everyone are handled appropriately, you're okay.
Take Wolf 359, for instance. Right now, both of our sims are set before that massive battle. If we decide to move a sim to after that, we need to decide how that impacts the other ships in the fleet. According to canon, there were unthinkably massive losses at Wolf 359, so did any of the Draconis Fleet vessels respond? If so, were they damaged or destroyed? This could remove characters from play entire;y, or at the very least, put them on different ships.
But yeah... seeing as how even a super active Trek game can take months to complete an adventure, you don't want to try to force eveyone to stay on the same identical page. It's more a collection of adventures that happen in the same reality.

We'd love to have you, breebles!
ST: Hexatris is currently recruitng HERE, and the Peregrine crew will need a few new hands once ST: Edge of Duty wraps it's current chapter... recruitment for that one is HERE.
Hexatris still has a lot of senior officer/department head slots open... Peregrine has slots open, as well, though I'm not sure if any are dept head types... we might need a Chief Medical Officer but I'm not sure.... Either way, you don't have to play a dept head, really... always plenty of "junior officer" slots and such if you'd rather go that route. I'm never opposed to wiping out an NPC entry (or, for that matter, turning an NPC over into a PC) in my departments in favor of a "live" player.

welp...
It looks like the Hexatris isn't going to work out. However, The George Washington Carver has gotten off to what looks to be a successful start... and the Peregrine is humming right along.
So far, so good, fleet!
