Name generator help!

I recently fixed an old bug with the name generators (Armoury -> Syvari (elven) name generator, and Armoury -> Khordaldrum (dwarven) name generator).  In the process, I remembered that there are a number of seed names created for cidals (halflings) - but only for given names... no surnames.  So I never put this one into live status.

I started musing that it would likely be useful to do fantasy names for various humans, too.

Eol Fefalas expressed interest (perhaps jokingly) that I should set up a Kazari (catfolk) name generator.

Here's the thing.  The script is set up to be very versatile, and it stores everything in a database.  I can absolutely set up all sorts of lists.  The big thing is that I really need seed names to make the scripts useful.

So, here is where you, the RDI Inn member, comes in.

Suggest some good fantasy character names!  The more seed names, the more effective the generator is.

Please, if you are feeling a tad creative, just jot down some lists of names.  The very best would be if you organize them by species and gender (yes, gender-neutral names are fine).  Mention if they are given names or surnames.

I'd love to get more of these up and running!  Thanks for your help.

I wasn't joking!

I mean, I don't know that anyone besides me has actually played a kazari, here, or, for that matter, if there are many who actually get into playing or writing about cat-folk. That said, as I started playing Ch'dau and, thereby, started tinkering around with "building Capasha" I did come up with a slew of names that I peppered through those documents. Got plenty of seeds to start with, at any rate.

As to seed names for other races, I can probably help with that, too! I'll start putting a list or sixty-four together.

Would that I could

Unfortunately, names are far from my specialty  The name field on my character sheets tend to be the last thing entered  for lack of a feeling for names.

I might be able to play a wide variety of personalities and characters, with innumerable personae in the depths of my imagination  but don't ask me to put a name to each one

awesome

I love making useful things, even if they are not useful to a wide group of people.

Yeah, sixty-four is a good start.

meh

Reralae - even if you don't come up with names... if you see/know of good names, feel free to share those.  Again, the point is to establish a good pool of quality seed names so that the generators can do something good.

I'll think about this tonight. I generally create a character, and then look for words to describe them in different languages based on how I want their name to sound (harsh consonants vs softer sounds) and then mash them all together in a Frankenstein's monster of a dope name.

Like I said though, I'll keep an eye out and try to get some lists going!

Well, I was gonna hop in and do these, but I see that you have started.  I don't want to get in the way, but let me know if you want me to do it.

wtf

Why isn't Ch'dau, the greatest Kazari Kh'ur of Rrowl in all of Audalis, not on the Kazari list?

Olan - Yeah, I figured I'd go ahead and, at least get a start putting them in if, for no other reason, than to familiarize myself with the interface and whatnot. I can probably get the above list entered by this afternoon if work doesn't claim my attentions too much.

breebles -  Ch'dau's name is in the generator, actually, just didn't add him to the list, here, because Olan had already added him when he created the Kazari category in the generator's database. I'll tack him on above just for you.

Super spiffy!

Just tested out the Kazari name generator and was definitely pleased (and, in some instances, amused) by the results. I think my favorite, so far, has to be Ch'nkei... Might this be a kazari "fat cat?"

Generators are like that.  You get some great results, some meh results, some terrible results... and some funny ones.
