The hacker crap, which we had stuck to a dull roar, is back in a bad way right now. For some reason, I'm seeing a TON of attempts to lead the profile of a banned user (who of course had a spam link). These are coming from a huge array of IP addresses - too many to realistically block. So I changed the code on that page to just drop and die if that profile is requested. This removes any calls to the database, any overhead, any real server time. I'll keep working to identify similar issues. I just added a new measure to block entire countries from the server, as realistically, most hacker activity comes from Asia, the former USSR, and the Middle East. We'll see if this helps.
