GMs - Most Memorable *Player* Characters?

Olan inspired me to post this thread to you DMs and GMs out there to list your favorite or most memorable character *your players* RPed in any of your campaigns.

I've had many, but I'll list just a few that stand out to me (most are from my tabletop years because we had longer campaigns than online).

Luinil Mithinon. A Nargenndon Ranger/Cleric from my 1st ed. Aetalanta campaign played by David Sneed. This fellow had such luck - he fought toe-to-toe with some of my most powerful villains, and won! He achieved great fame and some hefty artifacts and powers. Luinil also founded the great sylvan city of Taurbor in the Silkwood, though he caused just about as much destruction as he did good deeds. Was killed by his own hand while wielding a great artifact. One of the last GREAT Sidhe heroes of the age.

Rowainae, the Red Lady of Carondor. This is a female Bandarini Magic-User/Fighter (1st ed. rules) that still lives on in modern campaigns. Come to think of it, she too caused alot of damage doing "good" deeds. Funny thing is that she is depicted as a very petite Sidhe of woodland origin, and her player - Gari-Shaun Jones - was this humungous black guy who was a walk-on for the Detroit Lions in 1984!

Maegluin Adanedhel. A Carillion Fighter from Merchan (Urland), he was played by David Campbell. A veteran of many adventures (and once a companion of Luinil Mithinon), he established the short-lived Adanedhel Monarchy in Osgerith. Players near Aradin can see his works long after his death.

Newer, Honorable Potentials
Davan Olasu. Jedi Padawan from LotDJ, played by Olan. I liked this character - I think he would have done very well if circumstances allowed.

Ashla. Another character from LotDJ, a Jedi being conditioned to go "Sith" by Obsidia Dern. Played by Valimar.

Kaelyn. A good confused character given the "dark" treatment by Gedron and Dharvor in Osgerith during the E0 campaign. Played by, of course, Kaelyn.

Ardaramir. Played by Admiral. Aninteresting character that may have done well for himself if Dharvor would have left him alone.

Character

Onari - Lawful evil very young blue dragon wizard. He wanted so much to become a dracolich...

As a bonus, he later resurfaced as a Holy Axiomatic Shocking Greatsword (AND, incidentally, a historical evil NPC) in a campaign run by the same guy, in which I am a player. Ah, memories.

Damn...

I can't remember his name, but Bob ran a charactor back in the day in which he was an eeeevil villian with a Napolean complex. He was human, but people often mistook him for a gnome, which enraged him. Also, he never did ANYTHING right...and often his "Eeevil" twists were nothing more than pathetic attempts at pulling pranks.....and he was always rambling about his Dark Lord.

What was your name Bob?

hm one of many

one of my player most annoying charicter was named lex trapper and the reson was becuse he died contently and not accidently. he did stupid crap like jumping off a floating island to his death of ticking off a demi god at lvl. 3.
he was a rouge named lex trapper and everytime he died the player would reroll him same almost exact charicter.
and i have dmed about 6 campains i belive and i have about 30 chariter sheets for lex trapper. oh and one more bit of info about him he was a halfling that got swalloded by almost every creature big enoph to do so.
and if i metion a stupid roge in any of my other posts 90% of the time it's him. in my group he is known as the legendary screw up.

There was this one gnome I once played which has been promised instant death the next time I play him. The character didn't actually do anything that bad, it was simply how I acted while playing him; I crept the other players out too much.

Marou was a male gnome bard which began the game by passing out from drinking too much. During that time, the gay elf also passed out so the rest of them decided to do a little prank (at the time I had a call from nature so I had to be excused). They undressed the elf and my gnome and put them in bed together. When Marou woke up he was in complete shock and cried most of the game until he completely lost it.

Marou was also used as "human" shield against a pack of wolves (literally picked up and used as a shield) and later he was crushed by a dragon (survived though). I had a lot of fun with him and I want to bring him up in a game someday, if only to have him killed and get it over with

I also have a character coming up in a campaign We're about to start. I rolled rather bad, getting 15, 15, 11, 10, 9 and 7. After some tests I figured a barbarian would work with these stats, so I made a stupid and unappealing half-orc barbarian with Str 17, Dex 11, Con 15, Int 5, Wis 10, and Cha 7. With Gauntlets of Ogre Power and a +1 Greatsword he deals at least 9 damage in every hit and at most 19 damage in any regular hit. But the most appealing thing about this Character is his flaws of stupidity and unattractiveness. I think I'll enjoy this character
If he does become interesting I'll post his story someday.

Over the years

I've had a few memorable players -- and characters. But on that really stands out was played by my nephew. The game I was running at the time was from the boxed set (fewer and simpler rules for youngsters, more time to explain for me). He wanted to get into the game with his brother and sister, but was not old enough (I showed him on the book -- "for ages 10 and up..."). SO for his tenth birthday we rolled up a character, a fighter named Thongor (his idea).

Thongor proceeded to meet the party while they were camped outside a dungeon entrance preparing for another assault. He went in with them and eventually, by accident, found a secret door that opened into a small room with a pedestal in the center. On the pedestal was something shining in the torchlight. Thongor just went over and picked it up to bring it out and show the rest.

I paused the game there and took my new-player-nephew outside to explain to him what was going to happen. You see, the necklace that he had grabbed was cursed and he had become suicidally insane. I explained, in a nutshell, that he would run to the front of the party to begin any battle and would climb over anyone between him and a fight. When I asked if he understood, he nodded and quietly said "yes".

He played that insanity to the hilt! I was so proud of him to have gotten it so well, so quickly. His brother and sister, of course, immediately noticed the change and asked him if he was insane after discussing it with their characters. I waited to see how he handled it. His character simply said "No." and went about his business.

Flash forward: The party tried to sever association with the "crazy man", but they were his method of finding fights, so his brother, frustated after Thongor had run forward into a group of kobolds and wiped out the majority of them (including the leader, whom the party wanted to question), dragged him across the table for a knockdown-drag-out. Game stops for admonishments and explanations, and continued only when the elder brother promised to remember it was a game...

But I was so proud of the younger nephew's quick pick-up of the spirit and method of the game and his attention to detail, once learned. He is 30+ now and still plays, but not in my games (lately).

I still have that character's sheet.

Richmond Carmichael

This was a character in an online game that I ran on another site. He was an Aasimar Sorcerer. His character history had involvement with draconic forces. So he hated dragons.

Since I knew the player and knew he could take it, I sent him into various situations where he had to deal with draconic agents.

He ended up meeting the dragon in charge of these agents (who was in all actuality a God). He showed utter contempt and insolence towards this obviously superior creature. This impressed the God, so he gifted Richmond with a special Gift.

Richmond was converted into a Half Dragon.

The player played it all to a T. It was loads of fun. I still use Richmond as an NPC now.

hmm

Well, as I have only even attempted to DM one game, and that was only a couple sessions and rather improvised I can only think of one character my player, and yes only 1, ran. I believe I have mentioned this particular character once before in another thread.

He was a Doppelganger, bard if I recall correctly by the name of Vash, who would use his abilities to not only blend in as he traveled, but tell tales the audience truly wanted to hear using detect thoughts. Well in my desire to keep things relatively simple to start out with I put this lone doppelganger, who was currently in the guise of a halfling bard, up against a gnoll, he barely survived the battle, only doing so by reverting to his natural form and using his slam attack, but not before nearly losing an arm to a mighty axe blow, in an attempt to make it to the next town before more showed up he assumed the form of a lumberjack, taking the gnoll's axe and headed into town. Blood loss and severe trauma however caused him to pass out at the edge of the village. The locals brought him to their doctor who stitched him up and cared for him a couple days, when he awoke Vash had no memory of who or what he was, not even his abilities. From time to time he would catch glimpses of people's thoughts accidentally, but nothing else.

The plan was to guide him further into the story without his Detect Thoughts ability giving up way too much information about what was coming next until he could recover his memories and abilities.

The player enjoyed the few sessions we were able to do, and thought I had handled the whole thing rather well and creatively, and would have continued if he had not moved away

two most baddass (and annoying) I've had in my campaigns.

I've only DMing my second campaign so I don't have many to draw on, but so far:

Dastrun- a 7'10" minotaur barbarian with an epically over powered great ax who, at 10th level, dealt on average about 50 points of damage with every attack.

Ikor Stonefaith- a dwarven cleric who spent all of his money on items that would raise his AC and by 16th level had an AC of about 40.
