cleric
Hammer's charcter worships the dwarven god of war. this allows him to use a battle axe as his main weapon he also has a heavy crossbow. his spells are 1/magical stone 2/bless 3/command. I understand what you mean on the timing of posts thing it's a bit confusing to me as well i'm just jumping in when i think it's appropriate. was going to wait to see if any other group actions before i finish with Rat's mad dash. trying to have simultanious action by the group and Rat.

Cliffhanger...
Wow all that excitement and no mention of what's in the satchel?

whew, pant, pant .....
Rat is thinking the satchel had better be checked for traps before opebibg. He is also thinkig he should check for traps, and then let the "strongest/most con (Anvil?) then open it for the group. Rat is presuming that if there are "rewards" inside, then they are shared by the team, with getting 'first preference" for the bigger risk. Thoughts?
Should we follow the tree? Should we return to the wagons? Surely not much time has passed?

Brave little Rat
I agree with checking the bag for traps - doubtful, but a good hbit to get into. Anvil can open it if desired.
As for the tree - I see no reason to chase it. I don't think it is evil (is it?) - just a predatory plant like a venus flytrap. As long as we aren't the prey, let it go.
SD - how long have we been gone? Given the time frame we were given and how far we went - do we have time to catch up with the wagon again?
I believe they did say we could follow the road and meet them again at their base camp. That sounds like a good idea to me.

Kill it!
I vote for killing the tree, but that is just the elf in me. I'm not sure about it being evil, but for all intents and purposes it is an abomination to Trillian.

time flys when your being eaten
i'd say about 35 mins. have passed since leaving the wagon train 5 to 10 mins examining the bag and contents and then about another 20 to 25 mins. back to the where the wagons were. so between an hour to 1 1/4 hours. if nothing delays you also on a side note i will be absent starting wednesday untill the following monday traveling up to Bristow VA to see Judas Priest, Motorhead, Heaven & Hell (Black Sabbath with Dio singing) and Testament. so give me a jumpoff point by tommorrow so i can give y'all something to think about for a few days.

Rat says "huh? '!
Remember, I/he is a naive rookie!
If he know what that meant in dice/die roll, he would surely do it!

Dice Roller
Alright, here is a useful website for the die rolls.
http://www.openroleplaying.org/tools/dieroller/
It is pretty self explanatory and there are some instruction at the bottom of the page.
Rat, just punch in d% in the box marked roll, punch in SD's email address where it says mail to (yours also if you want to see the result, or test that it gets there) and in the purpose box just punch in "check for traps"
And Rat, I know that you could have figured all of that out for yourself, but I was just walking you through the process. And as always, I'm here to help

Hey Guys
My apologies for being unable to post, but I have been mostly without internet connections during my vacation!
Just checked in a motel and am trying out my new laptop after sleeping 3 hours and I need to get some sleep!
Will be visiting with my daughter later today and tonight and will be flying to Qatar Wednesday night, so it will be probably Saturday before I am able to start catching up!
Go ahead and manuever my character until I finally post something in a few days!

Rat says thanks to the Darque one but ....
the only "die roller" Rat can find (and used before with SD) is in the armoury section of this site, and it asks for the number and die size to roll - and there is no place to list "checking for traps". That Rat must be one dumb adventurer, and he needs further detailed help.:-/

To kill the tree or not to kill the tree
I won't stop the group if they want to kill the tree - I just wouldn't bother myself. Whatever. Other opinions?
I would be inclined to go back to the where we left the other group - which tree hunting would also slow down. Do the others want to go back to that group?
If so - post for SD - I probably won't be able to do so before he needs a resposne on Wednesday.

Checking for Traps
Ah, didn't know we had a dice roller on this site! That makes things a lot easier.
Okay, all thieves' skills are checked by percentile dice, which is 1d100. You want to roll equal to or lower than your ability score, so if you have 35% to open locks, you want to roll 35 or lower.
Hope that helps!

Dice Roller
Yeah, I looked at the die roller here, but I don't like it. You can't email results or verify rolls, so it makes it pretty easy to exploit. Not that I think anyone would fudge rolls here, but better to be above reproach than just hovering at that line.
