Her pointy ears twitched again, and she pouted her lower lip.

"I'm sure ya will... you're used ta havin' women at your beck'n'call, aye?" She chuckled in an exasperated sort of way. "Y'best just get used to the occasional failure."

She sat cross-legged in front of him on the forest floor, and played with a weed she picked.

"Y'know, you never told me what y'all are doin' out here either." She raised her eyebrows expectantly.

"The occasional failure is not something I ever intend to adjust to. I plan to make sure you're the only nay sayer, everyone else...well, it's only a matter of time."

He sat up a little more and fixed his gaze a little more intently on her.

"I'll be honest with you, I joined because I found the elf girl attractive. No suprise there. Elfs are a special breed, they are usually fairly strong minded, a decent challenge. They sometimes take a few days to break, but they always cave eventually. Two days ago, I just happened to be in the town of Highcross, trying my luck on a group of women in the local pub, when she happened in. She was going on about some crusade against the demon king, and she apparently noticed I was a knight. From there, we talked for some time before she 'convinced' me to join her. Really, I was never going to say no, it's not often you get a chance to have an elf nowadays."

She nodded as he talked, snickering a bit at his perverse scheming.
"Right, so, what's this about a demon king? She got a vendetta 'gainst him or somethin'? Y'all out to destroy him and his eeeevil overlord-ness?"
She raised her arms and wiggled her fingers at him like a ghost.

He shook his head an smiled.

"I'll be honest with you, here on the outer rim, not a lot of people have heard anything about the inner-kingdom wars. All I know is it's massive. Lot of fighting going on. Something about the soutern kingdoms wanting to succeed from the northern territories, so on top of some sort of demon problem, we have a civil war. I'm not much into the politics of it, and nor do I know anything 'bout the main characters. All I know is that this guys apparently a threat...so I guess I'm one of the fools who's gonna try and stop him."

He tapped his fingers on his bare leg.

"Probabaly die in the process..."

He hadn't really explained that since he was a godlike creation, he could never die. Not a lot of people knew that, and those who did were usually under the watch of other Arch Angels and under threat of death should they say anything. While Arch Angels were techinically immortal, they suffered a fate much like death. They could have their energy reversed. This could easily lead to a number of effects. Vaporization into loose energy, combustion, or...for more skilled magic users, a new immortal ally. People could change the energy in an Arch Angel and command them to obey their every whim. If he managed to be captured, he could end up killing all of them.

She was silent for awhile.

"That's some heavy stuff. I've made it a habit to avoid the inner parts... I've made a habit of remaining in the outer rim. Less of a population."

She paused, at a loss of what to say next.

"So, you're going to risk death because of an attractive elf?"

"I've got an attractive half demon...and besides, I;ve been to the inner kingdoms and I must say...beautiful women. Nothing like the hicks out here. Plenty of fresh meat for me to choose from. Just think of this as a vacation for me. But I don't suspect you'll be tagging along."

"Hicks, are we?" She glared at him.
"You seemed awfully eager to get friendly with THIS hick."
She jabbed both her thumbs at herself.

"Sometimes you get just the right hicks...besides...I didn't say you were all bad...just a little to uncivilized in general."

He shifted himself to face her a little more.

"Besides, no need to draw attention that anymore. I'm over you already...you seem to be the one bringing it up...have you changed your mind?"

She chuckled.
"Not in the slightest, sorry, mate. Relationships don't interest me. I just wanted to make a rebuttal."
She got up and began to walk in circles around the stump.
"I don't see why any of you would risk your lives, though. I spend my time lookin' after number one."
She jabbed her thumbs at herself once more.

"I usually spend my time looking for a ten...but, hell, it's something new. And just think of it. We'll be saving cities and towns...think of all the greatful young women...at the same time. Now that sounds like something I can get used to. I can be a hero...and who dosen't want to sleep with a hero."

He smirked and moved his hands over his boxers. He suppresed the urge.

"I'd be the most wanted man alive...now thats a good feeling..."

She sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Honestly, s'this all you think 'bout? Women and havin' your way with 'em?"
She shook her head.
"I suppose you have a point 'bout savin' the cities... But, I'm not 'bout ta risk my neck savin' people who I'll never lay eyes on again..."
She rubbed her neck thoughtfully.

"Sometimes I let them have their way with me..." he chuckled, "as for risking your neck...you don't have to. I don't have to justify my motives to you, and nor do you to me."

He stood up and stretched out. The skin on his chest strained uncomfortably.

"If you don't want to tag along, then so be it. I aint saying anything. Thats not exactly why I found you if you don't remember...I can refresh your memory."

He was longing to get back to Artura. Maybe wouldn't toy with her. He'd already been pleased tonight, but something about her rejection had brought back the lust. He liked how she fought him, respected her.

"Well... Whatever... I put m'things down at your camp, I have to go back anyway. Might as well spend th'night, aye?"
She gave him a small but sincere smile.

"I guess so." He turned around and ran his hand down the length of his back. He shivered. It was fairly cool out.

"And just so you know...thats not all I think about..."

She walked alongside him leisurely, hands clasped behind her back.
"Oh really?"
