Actually
I seem to recall a feat somewhere that allowed casters to have more powerful familiars, and I'm not talking about Improved Familiar either.

I don't think so
I could be wrong. I know of several versions of the Improved Familiar feat (including undead familiars, construct familiars, etc) but even those are still small animals, just magical beasts or outsiders instead of small animals. Like I said, I could be wrong but I don't think so.
The only thing I can thing of that is close is having a panther as a familiar in Neverwinter Nights 2. However an animal like that has never been available in any of the rule sets I've seen as far as I recall.

ok
Well we'll not argue the point, all I was saying was that in the future players would be wise to avoid assumptions about characters, some DMs would consider that Metagaming and not only frown upon it, but may even remove you from a game for repeated offenses.
I understand the game is for newer players, and I understand mistakes will be made, I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time, and I'm not picking on anyone.
However Steel, I would appreciate if we could agree to not argue so much over rules and semantics. I'd like to remind you that I am not a noob, I do know the rules pretty well, and am just trying to be helpful when I make comments like those about him being vague about what type of magic he uses.
As for the feat I mentioned, its not official WotC material, its actually found in Ultimate Feats by Mongoose Publishing, and the feat is Big Familiar, which allows a caster to bind a medium or smaller animal, beast, or vermin as their familiar as long as its CR is half their character level. And I suspect with you publishing your own materials you would be a little more willing to accept feats from non-WotC materials. And yes I realize the book was not available during character creation and still is not, the point is that pet wolf does not always scream Druid and making assumptions can be bad.
I'm reminded of a game I played in in my old table-top group, one of the guys was playing a warlock/bard, and while we all knew as players that he was a 'lock, since he sang a note everytime he used his Eldritch Blast our characters had no choice but to believe it was a bard skill he had picked up.
But I'm done rambling on and on about nothing, so don't mind me and lets see if we can't keep the momentum going in this game that we had going.

A point well taken
Ah, it's not in a book I know. That would be why I don't know of the feat. I stand corrected. And you do make an excellent point about the metgaming thing.
I said I could be wrong, and so you have proven me so. I thank you for the information... now I have another book to go find...
And you're right. I do tend to be a bit... argumentative. I apologize for that and will try to be better about that in the future.

No harm done.
We're all human on the other side of the screen, mistakes will be made. Besides, I know I can be pretty bull headed and stubborn at times too.
I repeat though, I'm not picking on anyone, and I mean no offense by any comments I make, in or out of character, unless I personally attack you, which I'll at least have the decency to do via PM and not out in the open.

Awww
It looks as though by putting an end to the conversating in the kitchen I killed the momentum we had going. Now I'm sad..

don't be sad
i guess it is really no big deal. the conversation has ended. we never came up with a real resolution. I guess we will have to form a plan when we all get to the forest in the morning.
I still think Darkon out front in melee, Kiirnon archer support until melee, and Zeph pulling sneak melee with some druid support would work. It would be nice to have more people, but alas we have not that luxury. I just hope we don't get beat down too badly.
Hopefully if all hell doesn't go down tonight at work I will have a post up.

The forest
I will making a game update Saturday night (if not sooner). Anyone who has not posted about their journey to the forest will officially miss that particular part of the day, as they will be considered as not being present.
Fair warning to all those who haven't posted.

Next Update
I plan to do the next game update Wednesday night. Anyone who hasn't posted by then will be assumed to not take any action. This is to get you used to the general posting requirements of the games here (in my experience anyway).

My update is in
I hope it was a good post, I made it kinda quickly. I just wanted to make sure that I got something done before the next post happened.
I also hope that while I did take charge again there, it was only based on the plans discussed before, and no one else had posted. So I hope the characters won't think that my character is bosing them around again, as I'd rather not get into that disagrement again.

Good enough
It's a good start. As long as I got some response from someone the game could move forward.
Something I didn't mention before is that while you are under the watch of your new instructor I will be doing all of the rolling. Most of you probably already knew that but for those that didn't, there it is.

cool with me
i had been busy so hadn't gotten around to posting. So I was going to do the same thing you did Darkon. To me and to Kiirnon it doesn't seem like ayou bossed anyone around.
I just hope all goes well from here.

levanna
Levanna, I need you to post what spells you have memorized. I'm letting you cast Mage Hand as a 1st level spell given your feat, however (as I'm sure you know but for everyone) you would have had to prepare Mage Hand with your Silent Spell feat applied at the beginning of the day. So if you would please, let me know what spells you have memorized (and what is in your spell book) prior to your next post. Otherwise, all future spells will fizzle out until this requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks.

A Couple Questions.
While it seems somewhat obvious from player knowledge that we are dealing with kobolds, do any of our characters recognize the scaly ones?
How badly injured is the man (I'm assuming he's a merchant of sorts)?
Did you say a couple of the scaled beasties were heading for us, or are they all distracted with the looting and murder?
Oh, and how many targets can we see?
