Post up

Got the post up this morning. Sorry if it detracts from the smartest course of action. The halfling's curiosity and the challenge presented by a crypt were just a bit too much of a temptation for him despite the urgency of the situation.

If he doesn't find a mechanism that will open the sarcophagus in his brief search he will mark it down in his head for later exploration and rush after the group as silently as possible.

If the group leaves him (as would be the smart thing) he'll light another sun rod and finish his examinations. If the barricade is broken and they approach, he intends to throw the sunrod over behind one of the other coffins and sprint for the door, dodging between any potential assailants and disappear prior to following down the other path.

Nearly complete

Thanks to you all for getting your posts in. I'm almost done my update, but since its now after three in the morning, I'll wrap it up for tonight and finish tomorrow so I don't wind up with a repeat of last time. But, this is a long one!

It'll be ready to go by tomorrow before I head out to work.

Also, to Steelight... I prefer good RPing over potential consequences to the party. You did good at being in-character, despite splitting up. So good on you

Mine's up

Celeste, please don't feel like you need to be on door duty. I know Tobias can be a bit patronizing, but he means well.

Steelight, time to bring your curious ass in here and stick it to the man!

Kaeyln, dude, I hope you are feeling better soon!

Tek, in case you missed it, I believe Kaelyn is also out of commission until further notice.

Again...?

Need posts to update, and I would ideally update on Wednesday, before the onslaught of my upcoming work week.

So, I was thinking this morning...

I apologize for yet again being absent. It seems to me to be a common occurrence during the summer. By the by, is it just Ayrn and I playing right now, since Kaelyn is out of commission and Steelight is busy with conventions and selling his published campaigns?

Something clicked together for me this morning, and I’d like to address it. Combat behaviors. It was mentioned that our characters should be put into a particular ‘combat mode’ like Dragon Age, defensive, healing, aggressive, etc. I understand that it would speed up combat progress, but there is something that I’d like to address.

So, as a spell caster, does this mean that you will decide what spells are best for Kaimelle at the time, and where and who they will be directed at? If it’s getting done in big chunks, does that also mean that you will be deciding how Kaimelle will be using up her EP, and whether or not she is risking burnout? Having played a spellcaster several times, I understand the importance of a will timed, well placed, and correct spell for the situation ~ for instance Grease, while not a damaging spell, can be used creatively to wreak havoc in the middle of a battle, or if placed incorrectly, can backfire horribly.

Additionally, at the present time Kaimelle is suffering from some serious negative penalties for being sleep deprived. Does this mean that, in the hands of predetermined behavior, she would keep trying to cast spells where, in the hands of the player, she would decide to direct her energies elsewhere if spellcasting was just too hard at the moment?

I apologize for the bluntness, but as a player, I feel like my character is being railroaded.

An interesting point

You know, due to the absence of spellcasters in the group when I actually engineered the Behaviours system (Aside from Nicholas, who almost always healed or fought with weapons, anyway) I had neglected to think of how it might affect an arcane spellcaster. (Even though I did have two spellcasting options provided, in retrospect, neither of them seem functional)

Because of the flexibility provided by having a full roster of spells, as well as a pool of EP to be using on them, that makes it impossible for me to actually employ said system for confrontations. And in all good conscience, I could not do that to you. So, I suppose until I can figure this system out a bit more in-depth, we'll go back to just doing this in two-round blocks, the way I have always done. Post immediate action, and then one or two potential follow-ups if something you want to happen DOES happen.

ie. Try to make some room between self and attacker. If successful, use Magic Missile. If not, Colour Spray on round two.

This system has always worked for me, and seems to have done so for my players. I suppose it will have to do for now

Also, we'll be joined by a few new bodies in the very near future, to fill out some ranks. Steelight doesn't necessarily need to post this particular update, since Koriss is still in transit. Kaelyn, however, I believe is functional (Or so a certain inkling I'm getting would suggest)

Jozan and Chessicfayth will be with us pretty soon.

Oooh yeah, can't wait to party up with all you fine folks!

Theres just a few questions that you gotta answer for me first, Tek. I PM'ed them to you a while ago so when you get the chance please look through them, It'll make up my mind on how I want to finish up my character. Please and thank you ahead of time!

How did I miss that...?

Regarding the exhaustion, we'll run that out with the two-round efforts. I had replied first and read your post second, and your method was exactly as I had been referencing. So that saves some work there. As for exhaustion and sleep deprivation, while they would effectively penalize you under ordinary circumstances, passing your check to resist the shakedown from the mercenary having his way with Kaimelle would provided her with enough hype-up to resist the effects for a couple rounds (Undetermined number! ) so she can have her way with him this time around.

Also, Tobias is a Syln. Koriss is a Raslan. Kaimelle is in the company of two humans at the moment; one Syln, one Gano.

Yay!

Hurray for new DM post!

Tek: Can you give us a simple map of the scenerio? (and I do mean simple)

Kaelyn: What if we tried to pin him instead? Wrestle him, get him in a bear hug and snap him like a twig? Or you pin him and I stab him (I promise I won't miss )

I won't be around next week, and I don't have time for a post, but Tobias will switch to using his dagger (he still has one, yes? or does Kammy have it?), getting inside the blind foe's guard and looking to stab the man in his sword arm, his neck, or his legs. If it's possible, he'd love to bash the man's sword arm into the wall with his shield and pin it there.

dagger?

*searches around the game*

No... I don't think anyone offered Kai a weapons. Pretty sure she just has her hands at the moment.

Well...

I'm pretty much sticking to the actions chosen in my previous post... and since it will be at least another post cycle before I get there I may not have a chance to get a real post in.

Notice

Game is not dead, but time constraints made it impossible for me to post. Furthermore, I'm going to be out of town for about two weeks, but I'll try to get things back on track when I return.

Stay with me!
