It was my first time...
With Megan. She's delightful. We had a good time.
I kind of rounded a few of Callie's edges off from my original concept of her, the ship didn't need someone too rough I felt.
She just really needs a good project and then she's right as rain, the Angel's bringing out the best in her. She gets into dark places when she's bored or feels like the situation is out of her control.
Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to the bump!

We DID have fun!
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Hell, I'd spray paint it on a water tower is the can wouldn't freeze solid... I'm soooo glad you're back, Meri! I've missed writing with you!
And, yeah, Megan is fun! For someone who was designed as a "throw away character," in the beginning, she quickly developed into one of my favorites. I'm super happy she survived the dice-roll of doom that wiped out half of FC.

Post is up, let's get to that adventure!
A few notes: the Calican species are somewhere in the range of late twentieth century Earth technology. The do not yet have a single world government. Their space technology is mostly limited to satellites and moon exploration. Unless something untoward has happened, the navigation beacon should be beyond their furthest planet, and effectively invisible to the "primitive" sentients on Calican II.
In theory, this should indeed be an quick in and out mission...

Trekkie to Engineering
Okay, just want to verify that we are all on the same page when it comes to this navigation beacon.
This thing is what... maybe the size of a large trash can? Bigger? Dining table? Shuttle?
Is it something they can beam aboard and fix, then re-beam back out? That's what I am assuming... but maybe I'm wrong.
Just trying to figure out what the more logisitical side of the repair will entail.
Thanks!! M.

I'm thinking similar in size to a satellite. Best bet being to bring aboard a cargo bay/shuttle bay and work on it there. I'm not married to any approach, though.

Sounds good!
I'll figure out something. Just wanted to make sure before I posted something and everyone looked over at me like 'what the hell is she talking about'

I am stumbling through a collab with C2P, but hope I can get it following better.
Also working on the "Walk in the Park" hope to have it up tomorrow or Friday.
I will follow C2P's lead on the main plot. I will have John reviewing the Calican system and tec to help avoid detection.

Spend a day away and look at all these good posts to read! Nice job as always, everyone.
@Merideth, Kennedy is such a treat to read. Really need to get the two new girls in the roster into a collab at some point, whaddya say?
@Odyson, I'll have my post up tomorrow detailing Zhay-la's plans and any further complications I feel like throwing at the Peregrine, but mostly my thoughts will be on keeping a low profile and having a TAC team on standby in case Calican gets antsy with visitors in their system.

Sweetness!
Spent last night on other endeavours but will do my best to get a post going for this, today.
Out of curiostiy, what's the distance between Peregrine's present location and the inhabited planet in the Calican system?

Given that real life Pluto is nearly 6 billion km from the sun (about 39.5 AU), I think that we are similar distance - maybe a little farther out - seeing as how we are beyond their furthest planet.

Morning!
@ C2P - Thanks I'm glad you enjoy reading her. I enjoy writing her. (I've got a note on my desk that says 'Entertain your reader' which is always my goal, and it's nice to hear that I manage it every now and then) We can definately work on some kind of collab coming up.
@ Eol - 'Other endeavors' I'm swooning over here...
So... yeah I'm working up a quick post (I hope, I'll try to keep the word count from getting out of control), getting engineering set up for whatever is about to be beamed in. Maybe a quick glance at how Megan and Kennedy are doing too, because I just can't help myself (I had a cute little vingette in my mind while getting my tea this morning and I just want to throw it out there for everyone).

just a little one...
Just a little science post. I took a couple of liberties. Alverstar, I'm assuming that the CSO was in Science and not on the bridge, since I get the vibe that the Captain isn't a big science guy. If I'm wrong, say so - I can easily edit that convo to use the communicator.
I'm also assuming that yes, it's okay for Eilal to spend effort analyzing the sensor data. If it's not, then tell me, I'll change whatever.

Well it's yet to be seen if the lass actually passes her exams. It might not be that adorable if she fails. Callie really wasn't known for academics at the Academy.
They needed a break and idle hands and all of that. But yeah, it seems the two have hit it off.
