Behind the scenes
I had a feeling I knew what was going to happen. I knew, for one reason or another, it would be Aranwen's last song. Either she failed, in which case she likely wouldn't live to sing again, or she'd be successful, and throw away her sword for the pain and suffering she caused to people following it.
The oath that broke with her heart's blade was the oath that she'd care for Kithran as her own child, however she could even if she was never to admit it for Kithran's comfort. To fill the place of the woman who abandoned her. Even through the haze of stun, she could feel when Kithran stabbed Ch'dau. In that instant, in her heart, she knew there was no way to salvage that oath. She failed to uphold the same oath that Saeriel had made, an oath to protect.
If she should be able to move once more, she will do the only thing she thinks she might yet have a chance to - to strike Davena down, regardless of her own safety. No more song; she lost it, all she has left is the cold steel in her hands.

Rer . . . I'm going to be crying as I head into this brewery. Ah, man, with everything that happened to Kith BTS, and everything in KCandK, jeez, this is so heartbreaking. I'm so sorry.

Me too...
The callbacks to KCandK have been positively gutting. I HURT for Ch'dau, but especially for Ara.

I suppose there's nothing to it then. If Cedric can reach Aranwen or Ch'dau and keep one from dying in that round (preferably Aranwen as Ch'dau will likely last a round more) would he have enough divine power left to heal Ch'dau the next round? In Gib's estimation, of course.
Then, Gib's focus would be on Davena. His thinking being that if he slays her, whatever hold she has on Kith will be released.
As a player, that puts Gib at Kith's mercy if he can even make it to them without obstruction but Moreno is thinking tactically and sees this as their best option.

clarifying
Sounds like I need to clarify; my descriptions have apparently been confusing.
Arawen is badly hurt, yes, but she would still be able to fight were she not stunned/dazed. Once that spell effect fades, she will be able to move and function as normal. Yes, she needs healing, but she is still in the positive HP column.
Ch'dau is on death's door, knocking loudly. He is well below zero HP and could expire at any time without aid. I would not personally wager on his surviving the time it will take for Gib to move a full round, then adminster a heal spell the next.

posts and timeline
Just a heads up to everyone - things are going to get a little wonky here for a bit.
You may notice that breebles just posted "Gratuitous Pt 2". This immediately follows the events of "Gratuitous", the fourth post down on page 20... i.e. the one immediateltybefore Garn's betrayal. These posts were both collaborative efforts between she and I.
Over the immediate future, I plan to release some other collaborative backposts that we worked on; these help narrative the time that Kithran spent with Davena while the rest of the party enjoyed Garrack's hospitality in the cells.
Hopefully, it won't bore you folks or come across as too much, but I do feel like it's important that you all see what led Kith to the point where she would betray not only friends and companions, but true FAMILY. The characters won't know these events, of course, but I hope that the players will find them useful.

Thanks for the clarification. And don't worry about boring us.
I've posted. Obviously, battlefield commands are difficult to issue during the cacophony of war so Gib's call to Cedric is more to let the young priest know that he's not alone. How Cedric decides to use his healing is completely up to him. Right now, Gib's focus is on ending the conflict.

Kithy-vision
I also made a Kithy-side post that'll be at the very bottom of the previous page and . . . Yeah. That's all. Good morning.

Clarification, 2
Aranwen's throat was not cut. Ch'dau prevented that from happening.
I want to give everyone a chance to post before I push the current timeline forward... I'll release a flashback or two to fill the gap.

Also...
Loved that Gib post. Lead from the front vs. command from the rear... always a critical decision to make.

My bad. I've altered my post.
By the way, you are absolutely correct, Gib would have used Hold Person to stop the wizard. I didn't know where to put it in my post, but that's absolutely something he would do. Good call.
This is fun. Death for everyone!

glad you approve
I'm glad that you approve. The needs was there - the spell quite literally saved a life. It was a spell I knew he casted, so it was in character. And it saved dragging the combat out another week or more.
Loved the depiction of the fight. Maybe not exactly how the dice fell, but again, I wasn't worried about describing every slash on every mook here. It was an excellent read, seeing the battle through Gib's eyes.
