Just a warning
I should have said earlier but I'm going back to my uni tomorrow, so I've been packing and so haven't been writing my post, instead finding out what John could do. I won't be able to write tomorrow, and maybe not the day after, it depends on how long it takes for me to move back in and get everything settled and sorted.
EDIT: This means don't wait for me to post, if you want a brief bare bones of what John is going to do he will take a look at the screen and then move to the left-hand (or right-hand, whichever Tess is not using) and start doing things quickly. He'll be primarily use the comms-equipment and then frantically type some code using the keyboard, if that doesn't do what it's meant to he'll start messing with the nav-com.
If questioned about what he's doing or stopped he'll say.

I like it....
Loki, that is great to leave the jest of your, it give all of us chance to figure what to write. I'm finding that the Q&A is way under used to let folks know what up.
I too have been busy, but with work. I've had late nights and brain burn out from trying to get us ready for a automotive registration audit for TS16949. I have upgrade all of out quality documentation and try change from ISO 9001.
As for Asher when he hears the kloxon he is headed to Engineering to lend Wolf a hand. He's alway been the trainee and go-fer so it would be his normal station in flight. He used to help Kora when she was engineer. He has a d6 for engineering so he can help.
Tann you can write whatever you need Ash to do to help. I'll follow your lead in the post after to support the action needed in the engine room.

Unpacked (sort of)
I had surprisingly little to pack, and then unpack... as such it is all done and, after some initial connection problems, I can now post so will begin writing my post. But again, don't wait for me.

Okay Dokay Loki...........
Great post bubba..
Nice research.....
I will sometimes spend alot more time looking up stuff before I write than I take to write the post.
Of course there are the times I totally miss the obvious too, .

alliance stuff
Not sure if ASREV is really an alliance only term. As to John being on the other side of the war, so was Sam but no one said anything. So it is up to players if they want to make an issue but John certain just helped them immensely. Wolf, Tess, Asher and Willow all did not fight in the war.
I have left it up to Asher and Wolf to shut down the Pulse beacon. It means they can't use that to lock on you again but it also means if local authorities come to check out the explosions, they are less likely to trace you.
So you might want to look for a strong heatsource to distract the new missiles. the robot culivators are not hot enough and spread over too big of an area.

Hot Stuff!
What about a flare or two? Would they be hot enough if somebody were to chuck a couple of lit ones out the back of Roc?
Knowledge check to see if the flares would work and knowledge check to see if the earlier trick with the navigation systems will work again?
And OK about the asrev thing, I just thought I'd add some additional colour but suggesting that 'lliance had their own slang for their own stuff.

Ummm...
...tossing flares out the back of Rocinante might be tricky given speed, altitude(?), and the lack of a backdoor. *wink* Could use the bomb-bay or another airlock, I suppose, but flares vs heat signatures from the Firefly's engines, I think, might make it an exercise in futility. But the thought did get me thinking...
Doesn't Roc have a chaff dispenser? I kind of thought we might have had one on there but I'm not seeing it in the character sheet for our girl.

Flares
I was thinking flares because aircraft today use flares to detonate heat seekers, although I agree there is probably a substantial difference between military decoy flares and the pyrotechnics John has in his pack.
What would be good would be if we could just EMP them, but since we don't have an EMP cannon that'll be difficult as well. I'm just trying to think of anything that would be hot enough to distract the missiles or if there would be some way to disguise the Roc's heat signature.

flares and chaff
The flares and chaff used in miltary are specifically designed for counter measures and a flare gun would not work. Looking for a heat source, check the sensors! Maybe John can boost their effectiveness somehow? I hear that someone has a bbq pit going right now that a number of fatty pigs fell into as a transport blew by. Maybe you can find it, cut the engines as you glide over ...
or
You do have decoy missiles as well.
or
Asher has a case or two of grenades.
or
You could do a steep climb, go to hard burn while still in atmo and cause a fireball of thrust matter that could/might destroy the missiles and put you in the black but could burn out your engines and leave you sitting ducks.
