What I don't have...
...for some dumb reason is the rassafrassin' doc in which I had compiled all of the Discovery Season 1 (Storms of Gavin III) posts! I know I used to have it somewhere... but where in the heck that might be, now, is beyond me...
Beyond that... Ummmm... well... I've got pretty much anything... whatcha need?

What I need...
Again this post has been censored by the authorities who are considering threatening Meri with a large roll of duct tape if she cannot control herself
Oh... and for Star Trek... actually I did have a random question concerning promotions.
Callie would not want to run a starship really, she's focused on Engineering... she can keep going up through the ranks without taking on the bridge correct?

well
Commander and above are ranks that are usually reserved for those with interest in command. There are odd instances of these ranks appearing in other departments - but the only ones I can find in canonical trek are from the movies based off of the original series (Scotty and Spock both held the rank of captain, for instance).
Usually, a department head tops out at lieutenant commander... commmander is typically reserved for those who serve as executive officers (or as commanders of smaller vessels/installations). Likewsie, captain is a rank usually reserved for commanding officers.
If Callie is interested in further promotion, her best bet is to undergo command training in the sammer manner that our current XO, Avanti, did.

Yep...
...it is entirely possible to go an entire career in Starfleet without getting your own command.
A shift on the bridge of the ship to which you're assigned, however, is not out of the question... in the absence of the CO, XO, or 2O, "acting command" of the ship falls to "ranking personnel" (with deference to those who have taken/passed the appropriate training, ofc).
Edit: And what Olan said!

For that matter
There probably are a few specialised posts that allow 'specialist' non-command personnel to pass the rank of Lieutenant Commander. I'd suspect that Starfleet has a research department, for instance - whose head will doubtless outrank the chief science officers he or she's in charge of. Likewise there's probably some kind of engineering directorate, whose officers likely hold anything up to flag rank. I think the reason we don't see those is that the canon is generally concentrated on regular ships, not specialised medical or research branches...

Deck Plans
ME!
What I have seen in the TV and movies is that itis not common to salute ranking officers when passing them in the corridors. Is that correct?
Also does anyone know of a protocol for a Junior Officer entering the Bridge?

Saluting...
Typically - and this is standard in all US armed forces, anyway - salutes are not rendered while under cover (read: "inside"). Proper protocol for acknowledging/showing respect for a superior officer is to stand at attention until the superior acknowledges you in return with an "as you were", "carry on", etc...
As to Starfleet and their own brand of protocol where this is concerned, I'd say it's close to what we military-types have become accustomed but is open for interpretation, I think.
Have the deck plans to you ASAP, DM.

(Junior) Officer on Deck
DM - As long as her assigned duty station is Sec1 or Sec2 protocol for Ensign LaRue coming onto the bridge would pretty much entail nothing more than manning your station (thereby relieiving the person who was on shift prior to you)... No need to ask permission, Riverdance to the Rim, or anything like that... Or, as Mac might say; "Show up, stand there, and shaddap!"

yep
When originally reporting for your post - i.e. the first time you meet your department head - it would be a good idea to salute. The only other common time to salute is when giving a report.
