ten rats and I roll 11

Gamard steps forward to face the undead rats. “Foul creatures!” he called as he stepped forward. “By the Sky-Light of purity, the Heavenly Orb, Father of Morning and Hallowed Circle I banish the darkness pulsing in your veins! I grant you rest eternal!”

He added, under his breath: “Or go cower in a corner so my friends can beat you to your second death.”

The power of his god flows through the Khord and the rats hiss with fear and loathing of the holiness of his presence. They back away from the cleric and then scurried with haste through the portal on the opposite site of the room.

You are left with two very dead bodies. They look they were once humans but the rats have rip apart their bodies badly.

(You all know there is a possibility of them rising up as undead as well. I am assuming you will dispatch them cleanly and that the Mage and Cleric do not use their spells)

There is not much to examine of the bodies. You find chewed leather from armour. There are a couple of daggers that did not serve them well.

Looking at the tapestries pulled down, you see that inside the “tent” are sheets, pillows and blankets. There is a leather backpack in there as well that looks to hold some items. There is also a piece of parchment under one of the pillows.

Love those dice!

“Foul creatures!” Gamard called as he stepped forward. “By the Sky-Light of purity, the Heavenly Orb, Father of Morning and Hallowed Circle I banish the darkness pulsing in your veins! I grant you rest eternal!” He added, under his breath: “Or go cower in a corner so my friends can beat you to your second death.”
Before Alôndas could finish his spell and burn the creatures; Gamard had stepped forth and issued his holy decree to the foul rats; as one they all hissed at him and then turned and fled out one of the portals. The mage let the magical energies he had been summoning return to their resting place.

“Well done, my friend!” He said with a smile as he stepped up beside the Khord and laid a hand on his shoulder.

With the rats so easily dispatched, the mage stepped forth to examine the room; the bodies he left to the clerics and other that could attend to them. He gave them only a cursory glance as he checked out the rest of the room.

Seeing the tapestries seem to be hiding something, he assist anyone else who would help, in pulling them aside and looking through the items beneath. Tossing aside one of the pillows, he finds a parchment which he picks up carefully.
(OOC: Unless some kind of roll is required to see who finds what.)

Alôndas quickly loses interest in the other items and steps away carefully examining the parchment to determine if it might be magical or perhaps just of the message variety?

(OOC: He will examine it for any signs of magical traps, sigils, markings, etc. If he finds nothing dangerous or suspicious looking, he will walk over to one of the tables, find a clean spot, and spread out the parchment to examine it, including reading it if he can.)

Parchment

The parchment is not magical but a list of words that have been crossed off and a couple circled.

I wonder.

Alôndas was surprised at the contents of the parchment; seemed that someone was searching for some kind of ‘command’ word or something.

Still standing at the large table, he looked up and thought for a moment and then he spoke.

“Dinner” he said and waited to see if anything happened.

bada.

There is a flash of light and a loud “PAFFFT” as soon as the Mage utters the word Dinner. There are now six table settings at the table as well as a banquet of food. There is a roasted bird, carved and steaming on a platter. A roast of beef is partial carved and surrounded by roasted potatoes, carrots and onions. There are two baked fish with pink flesh (trout or salmon). Large mushrooms in a wine sauce are in a serving bowl as well as green beans in a butter cream sauce. A salad is available in a large silver bowl.

Two large soup tureens are present, one with a clear broth and the other a cream soup of some sort. Apple pie, pastries and assorted chocolate sweets are present. There is a cutting board with several different types of breads and spreads available as well.

Decanters of many different types of wine are available including the very hard to get Sylvari green wine and even rarer Khordaldrum Mushroom Wine. There are two small kegs with beer mugs next to them as well.

Ivan sniffs the table, “Whoa dude. This is some spread. But they baked the fish – what a bummer! Total waste of good fish.” Ivan then looks down on the ground near the table and reaches down, bring up a porcelain dish with a pile of brown formless meat in it. “Oh Dudes. This is major uncool! Majot uncool! I do not do fancy feast.”

hmm..

Mal's blade droops to the floor as the feast is summoned before them, an amazed, and hungry look in his eye. This had, indeed, been a good route to choose. Looking around for any other possible threats, he them steps cautiously toward the table, and the fish.
Looking down, he noted Ivan next to him lift a bowl of small brown chunks, and complain about a fancy feast. Shrugging, he concludes that he is indeed pleased with the feast before them, and lifts the plate of salmon.

"There be no need to pass up free food, I say." He proclaimed shortly, with a slight grin.

Tearing off a small piece, both to sample the flovor, and try to detect any poisons, He them takes a seat at the table to relish his meal.

food?

Seeing the rats flee before them gave Gamard a bit of a mixed feeling. On one hand he was feeling the comfort of his God’s strength channelling through him, bringing light to the world and banishing foulness all around. On the other hand he was a bit worried with the ease in which these creatures used the portals. It only now occurred to him that these portals were true gateways to unseen areas of this hellish maze. Which meant that at any time anything could come through without any form of warning.

He would not be sleeping as peacefully this night.

His ponderings were interrupted by Alôndas’ hand on his shoulder.
“Well done, my friend!” the platinum blonde Sylvari exclaimed.

Gamard offered him a reassuring smile.
“You’re welcome.” He stated with a firm nod.

The Syl continued on to investigate the room. Gamard approached the two bodies, hoping to get a better understanding of the cause of their death. When suddenly there was a bright flash of light and a sound that reminded him of a magician’s prestidigitation act. Indeed an incredible feat had been performed, as the most delicious food he had seen in a long time was suddenly spread across the tabletop. He hadn’t realised just how hungry he had been until now.
Without much further ado he made for the Khordaldrum wine and the big mushrooms. His parents had been mushroom traders, before the accident, and he knew a lot about fungi. These looked exquisite!

“There be no need to pass up free food, I say.” Mal noted, but he seemed more cautious than his words implied. Gamard took note of this, and it dawned on him that he had almost stepped into a possible trap.

“Good thinking.” He said, and motioned for the fighter to lay off the food just a short while longer. Searching within, he felt the presence of his God and the divine energy stored there during his morning prayer rituals. Then he let his hands run over the food, slowly and deliberately.

(OOC: he casts Detect Poison. Might be a waste of a spell, but if this food is good, we’re going to need it. Who knows when the next opportunity for dinner is.)

not a waste even with no results

The Khord cleric takes a moment to cast a spell over the sudden feast before you. After a moment of prayer and divination, Gamard perceives that the food is clear of poisons.

Looking a gift horse in the mouth

After the fight with the Bugbears the last thing Crow wanted was another fight, especially with more undead rodents. So when Gamard stepped up and did his thing the Elf Ranger could not be happier as he watched the foul creatures scamper back to their hiding places.

“Foul creatures! By the Sky-Light of purity, the Heavenly Orb, Father of Morning and Hallowed Circle I banish the darkness pulsing in your veins! I grant you rest eternal!”

Positioning his new backpack on his back, the two long knives hanging to each side, the Ranger watched as the others examined and searched the two bodies and their ‘camp’. Then once again Alôndas, as what has become for the party the norm, acts first without thinking of the possibilities. However this time with different results then expected.

“Dinner”

A flash of light and a loud “PAFFFT” causing Crow to quickly draw his two swords and before the party now were six new table settings at the table as well as a banquet of food. A roasted bird, carved and steaming on a platter. A roast of beef partially carved and surrounded by roasted potatoes, carrots and onions. Two baked fish with pink flesh (trout or salmon). Large mushrooms in a wine sauce in a serving bowl as well as green beans in a butter cream sauce. A salad available in a large silver bowl. Decanters of many different types of wine including, Crow saw with disbelief, the very hard to get Sylvari green wine and even rarer Khordaldrum Mushroom Wine. There are two small kegs with beer mugs next to them as well.

Two large soup tureens are present, one with a clear broth and the other a cream soup of some sort. Apple pie, pastries and assorted chocolate sweets are present. There is a cutting board with several different types of breads and spreads available as well. Crow being Crow was not one to think all this food was not something without a price and was going to have none of it. Staying quiet he watched as Mal tore off a small piece of the fish, ate it then sat down at the table as if a normal dinner. As the Elf Ranger watched the human devour the food on the table before him he waited for the Fighter to die or become poisoned. As Crow waited for some type of calamity to befall him he heard behind him Gamard begin to cast some type of spell over the food clearly checking for any poisons or evil upon the food.

If the Cleric pronounced the food clear of any such things he would wait a bit longer after most had already eaten something to eat last. Then if they were still alive and safe he too would eat from the food on the table.

Lucky Find...........

Dudley prepare for combat but the luck was with them. The rats decided not to attack and left by the other portal. The group conducted a quick search of the room and as the mage took the parchment that was found and used its magic words to produce a mass of food upon the table. As the other perpare to partake of the bounty Dudley took up the pack that had been found. He open the pack and searched it for item that might benifit him and the party.

food!

Gamard sighed in relief that all the lovely food on the table wasn't just a piece of metaphorical cheese in a trap. They were fancy gourmet dishes and they would be thoroughly enjoyed.

"The food seems to be safe." He said to the rest of the party. "Dig in."

He helped himself to a bit chunk of mushroom, trying his best not to cram it into his mouth.

The Backpack

The backpack is very heavy. This is mostly due to two gold statues (20 lbs each) within the pack. There are also numerous silver cutlery pieces, a large steel pitcher, a small brazier, and two arm-length ladies gloves made of red silk.

And The Oscar Goes To...........

Dudley inspected the pack and found an odd array items. The cleric started to draw a conclusion that the two that were eaten by the rats may have been pilfering and met their just desserts. Or perhaps they were just dessert.

Lifting the two golden statues to the table. "Perhaps we need to be careful of what we take from this place. The wizard may have his ways of getting even. Those two poor fellow seemed to be carting off things of value to the world outside. Perhap they acted rash?" Placing the red gloces next to the statues,"and these may have had an interesting story."

Emptying the pack he kept it aside, they might be able to use it to carry some of this food when they desided to leave.

After a nice break... shortly after a rest.... we shoulda camped here, not the pool room....

Licking his fingers, Mal drops the fish he had been working on and looks around, a lighter mood evident on the warrior's face. Amazing what a real meal could do, he thinks to himself as he stretches, and grabs up his Saber. Looking on to the portals before them, he says,

"I be seein' no way to know what door leads to good things, lads. With that in mind, I says we go to the right, as left be bad luck, and them foul rats be waitin' through the straight course."

Last Supper?

Dudley pulled up place at the table. "Well I we are lucky enough to have food presented we may as well partake." The cleric then pproceeded to enjoy a complete formal meal. Starting with the creamed soup, the light salad, roast of beef, roasted potatoes, carrots and onions, the large mushrooms in a wine sauce as well as green beans in a butter cream sauce. Using some of the bread to sop up the juices Dudley cleaned his plate. A nice red wine washed to bounty down quite nicely. As he relaxed a moment he took a piece of the Apple pie and some assorted chocolate sweets. All in it was a very setting.

Not seeing a very good way to carry so much food, when the party was finished Dudley placed some of the breads in the pack and prepared to leave.

"I be seein' no way to know what door leads to good things, lads. With that in mind, I says we go to the right, as left be bad luck, and them foul rats be waitin' through the straight course."Mal said as they gathered their things.

"Well luck is luck and my Goddess has been watching over us so far, but if you prefer then Right it is, you can be wrong if you are right." he laughed as he headed to the portal.
