Quick question for ENG, SCI, and/or MED
Has the Hekaran corpse been removed from the pod (or are there plans to do so)? Looking for some sciencey-type-stuff to soft toss to SCI and MED in this regard and wanted to verify what the status of the body was before I "officially" PMd some data in that regard.
Thanks!

Nope
That would be a negatory. No one can get to the pod itself yet due to the Peregrine's containment field around the whole pod. All work and study so far has been done from outside of it, until the repair work is done on the canisters' containment. So corpse 'n canister are all still there.

Derp!
That's right! I remember reading that, now. Thank you, sir!
Edit: Dox and Silent - Since Dunc has reminded me that the corpse is still aboard the pod, go with the info I PMd, earlier... I imagine the doctor might make a case for removing the corpse from the pod in order to facilitate further examination but that's completely up to you. And, as always, if you have questions or need more info, just holler at me.

If it helps...
...in Thorson's next post I intend to cover attempts at repairs to the pod's canisters' containment. I've told him that he needs to have it done in time for further study by other departments before we reach the starbase. If he does not do so, I have made it clear that the next hull breach will be sealed with his behind (immediately watch the film Space Truckers if you do not get that reference; you haven't lived until you've seen George Wendt get sucked out of a tiny space station porthole...butt first).
So count on food for the SCI-MED folks soon.

We want those folks to have something to do here, for sure.

duty rosters!
I have begun posting duty rosters per character on the first page of this thread (post #5, to be precise). This is not meant to be a handcuff, but a useful tool to help you figure out where your character most likely will be at a given time on any given day.

little inklings...
beings theirs an unknown contaminate on the pod would it make sense to have a secondary field when crew are working on it as a "hasmat" containment field so if something goes wrong it got a buffer field?

honestly
I don't think that's a bad idea at all. It would be tough to work with a second field up all the time, but it might be doable... or you could set one up to kick on instantly if the first one fails.
You should coordinate this idea with Duncan, see what he things about it.

Put It In A bigger Can....
Could a new containment container be teleported into the pod and the failing container teleported into it to maintain containment? Then the dead guy could be teleported into a contained area for examination.
Just a thought.....

Another good thought. Again, this is Duncan's call... but that might be a great way to let science and medical get involved!

Nope
Starfleet transporters won't transport through a Level Five containment field.
If anyone is itching to post about further findings or removing the corpse, by all means do so, just make sure your time stamp is after about 1400; that's about what time Thorson and team will figure it out and complete the repairs. That's about two hours before we reach the starbase. Enough time for a round or two of posting about findings.

Sure.........
Hey I didn't say it was a good idea. Geeze, and I keep being called a nerd...lol.
Fixed the last post to fit the timeline, sorry for that. Also clarified that John wasn't "Ordered" to security, he just felt he should be there.
I'll try to watch the timeline better.

Whoa...
...go to lunch and things go
Good to see all the back and forth, though. lol
And, no worries, Ody... stuff happens. I didn't even really pick up on the timestamp discrepancies, myself, until I was re-reading posts.

Regarding containment
Astrid, sorry, just noticed your post. You'll note in Thorson's post that there already is a secondary field up around the entire pod; that's the field that they set up when they took the field enhancers to the cargo bay. Until the containment on the canisters can be repaired, the larger field is the only thing holding in any potential contamination. Repairing that containment on the canisters so that the larger field can be dropped is the only way anyone can get close enough to physically work with the pod and its contents. Again, Thorson will deal with all of this in his next post.
I would reiterate that any studies of the canisters and corpse can go ahead and be addressed; post away about it. Just make sure your time stamp is after 1400 hours ship time. We will need to take it as read that no one will be doing anything with the pod's contents until the canisters are repaired, which will happen at about 1400. This would simply be a logical and needed amount of time for repairs to happen. But anything you want to do after the canisters are repaired, you can go ahead and post, as long as it's stamped after the completed repair time of 1400. Thorson will have the canisters repaired so that others have time to have at the contents before we get to the starbase.
I just need time to get home from work and write the post, and I'd prefer not to have to give away any further spoilers about his next post until then.
So to recap: you are fully free to post about what is done with further study of the canisters and the corpse. Just make your time-stamp after 1400 hours.
